Most of the day consisted of Luke and I sitting on a blanket drinking Starbucks and watching the river that stretched out in front of where we were sitting.

After a couple hours, Luke stood and stretched his legs.

I saw him eyeing the water and knew what was coming next.

"Don't do it." I warned. "It'll be freezing." But Luke was diving into the water as I spoke. I laughed as a few cuss words flew out of his mouth loudly until he became used to the cold.

"Come on in!" He taunted. "It's not too bad once you get used to it." Luke swam around in the water before he discovered he was able to stand flat footed with the water barely pushing to the bottom of his chest.

"If it comes up to your chest it'll nearly be coming over my head." I complained from my perch on the blanket.

"I'll keep you safe." Luke said earnestly.

"Are you sure?" I said, hesitantly stepping into the water, not too sure of the situation.

"I've got you." He assured me. I walked part of the way and Luke came to the part where I was no longer able to touch the bottom. He allowed me to hold onto the fabric of his shirt and his side as the current tugged at me. He snickered a little, looking down at me as I basically hugged him. I rolled my eyes and laughed.

"Shut up. Just cause you're tall doesn't mean you can gloat."  He grinned.

"No one's tall enough to slap me in the face when I do though." He teased. I rolled my eyes again playfully. "Try swimming." He coaxed gently.

        "Not a good idea."

"Just to the bank. I'll swim with you." He convinced me.

"If you had less of an advantage from your long legs I'd race you." I smiled at him. Before he could let out a cocky retort, I took off, taking a couple seconds as the freezing water went over my head.

When we both made it, we sat on the bank for a while. I curled into Luke's side while he rubbed my hand with his thumb.

"This is good." I said. "I know you again. It's been a while since I've felt like that." He just gently pulled me into his side in response.
