* Lenny’s POV *

As I was walking around downtown, with the ingredients we needed for today’s lunch, I bumped into one person I didn’t think I would see, for some reason.

“Hey Len.” She called me, waving her hand as she stopped in front of me, watching me from head to toe.

“Hi Bailey.” I uttered, smiling. No idea what else to say, to be honest.

“So I heard you’re finally with your dream girl.” She said as a matter-of-fact as I smiled. Of course, these things wouldn’t be hidden from Bailey, especially knowing that…

“How’s Ava?” I asked. I think my concern for the girl wouldn’t be gone. No matter how much I try to focus my mind on other things, I still have soft spot for her.

“She will be alright.” Bailey commented. “It’s not like she’s not used to this. I mean, you know how her parents broke up, so I guess it’s not anything new in her life.” She explained. “It hurt, you can’t take that away from her, but she’ll be fine.” She uttered, and soon I felt her fist in my gut as I have managed to drop every bag I had in my hand as I fell on the ground.

“What was that for?” I exclaimed as I held onto my body, squirming in pain.

“For hurting my girl.” She uttered as if her hands acted like it was washing away some dirt she had gotten from me. “Told you, I’d come back for you even if it had been weeks or a month.” She smiled, wickedly as I nodded my head, remembering that scene at the hospital when Kayla was confined.

“And you weren’t kidding about it.” I uttered, more like groaning in pain as I slowly got up from the ground, fixing up myself and my things.

Silence greeted us as we stood there as if we were just the only people in the street at this certain time. No words were spoken out and I wasn’t too sure if we’re even back to having that same friendship again. Though, it was worth a try.

“So are you coming to the wedding?” I asked her. I knew John and Kayla invited her over, but I wasn’t sure if she would actually go over.

“I don’t know.” She uttered.

“You can bring Blade.” I reminded her as she had that guilty look painted on her face or something.

“I’m not sure if he’s available at that time.” She explained as she played with her fingers as if I had just said something out of her comfort zone. “The guy is really busy with the company and…”

I interrupted her. “I’m sure he’ll have time with his girl.”

“But I’m not his girl…” She uttered. “I’m sorry for not saying a thing before, but it was for the best, Len.” I gasped as my eyes widen, shocked by all of this. “Blade’s more like my brother, to be honest. It’s just complicated and all that.” She explained. “I’m sorry, but it wasn’t as if we’d actually end up together. I mean, even if…”

I nodded. For the fact that my life has been all complicated lately, I understood what she meant. This was better.  At least, I guess we were still in speaking terms than nothing at all.

“Well, thanks for telling me now.” I uttered, heaving a sigh. “I better get going. John and Kayla might be looking for me by now, especially after volunteering to get the ingredients for their gathering today. But I hope you could come.” I smiled, waving my hand as I bid goodbye.

“And we thought you got cornered by your lady and got busy.” John teased as I had stepped inside their house. They were the host for today’s lunch and as a preparation for their up and coming wedding.
