* John’s POV *

Being pushed out of the room out of your own will sucks, but then again, since seeing her enter the room, I’ve been meaning to have an alone time with her to talk and catch up on things, and I was just glad that she followed me outside, and Joanna didn’t.

“You’re back so soon?” I inquired, though it has been a year since Kayla left for uni. I just didn’t think she’d be back this early.

She nodded. “You know I’m not like the other girls.” She uttered as I moved towards the hallway, looking out the huge window that showed a view of the hospital’s parking lot. “I came back because I wasn’t feeling the vibe of being in that university anymore, like I’m so lost and all that. I don’t even know why I went there in the first place. It’s like I was stuck in prison. I had no life again.”

“Same Kayla, I know of.” I snickered. Since meeting her in my class before, she has walked out of my class an awful amount of times, and would see her in hiding out in Len’s office. It was true when she said that she’s not like other girls because if Kayla didn’t like one thing, she wouldn’t even dare do it. She wasn’t someone you’d call stubborn, she’s just frank like that I guess. “So what are you saying? You’re going to be here for good.”

“Yes, something like that. Until, I figure out what I wanted to do, I guess. Perhaps, I shall find a job first, and maybe, I’d like that even better.”

“You can always dance like how you first planned it.” I suggested. Kayla loves dancing as much as I do so I tried inviting her to Justice Crew workshops most of the time to get her feel back to dancing. “Do you still hear from Jason?” I was curious to know, I don’t even know why.

She nodded. “Yeah, he’s finally happy. He got everything he wanted – a school he dreamed of, college football, and a loving girlfriend.”

“Are you two…?” I was under the impression they were dating, considering she did say Jason got everything he wanted. I know, for a fact, he wanted Kayla.

But she shook her head. “Oh no. I’m still on that ‘I don’t date best friends’ thing. Plus, it wouldn’t have been fair to him, especially when I have someone occupying my heart.” I nodded. “Well, I’m glad you’re happy. I see you got your first love back.” She uttered as I was taken aback. Kayla knew of Joanna, I’ve told her before when we did twenty questions, or more than that, by the amount of days Kayla and I would enjoy just sitting down and chatting up anything that comes in mind.

She was easy to talk with, plus the fact that we have heaps of interest in common, we sure did click. There wasn’t any awkward vibe between us, and I sure did miss her company a lot. Just by seeing her around, she makes me calm down in an instant, like everything’s just so chill.

“I better get back and see how the lovebirds are doing. Hopefully, Len hasn’t killed Ava yet with his magic mike butt off. It was nice to see you again.” She laughed as she turned around, and started to walk down the hallway where we both came from. In the middle of it, she slightly turned to the side and smiled at me.

“And I’m not gonna lie – I miss my Peter Pan.” She uttered with a smile. “But your girlfriend don’t have anything to worry about, I’m not gonna be a jealous ex-girlfriend and follow you around like a lunatic because we all know what happened the last time.” She met my gaze as she laughed, remembering that time she had been brave, sleeping like the perfect angel at the hospital, only because she was shot by another ex-girlfriend.

“I missed you, Mr. Pearce.” She teased, holding up a peace sign in front of her before turning around the same way we had gone to.

“You know I’m not your teacher anymore, right?” I questioned as she stopped in her tracks, turning around once again as she nodded.
