Moving day.
I had been excited for this day ever since my parents had told me we were moving to Charleston, South Carolina. But now that it was finally here, I was terrified. I was terrified that my last three years of high school would be spent lonely with no friends.
At my old school, I had a lot of friends but this school could be different. Maybe they wont like my spontaneous and outgoing personality. I’m the kind of girl who does what I want, when I want, with whom I want.
As I get in the front seat of my mothers Honda pilot, I immediately feel tired. I plug in my earphones and doze off.

I suddenly feel the car begin to slow down as I wake up from my long nap. I open one of my eyes and peek out from under my eyelid; a medium size grey house with palm trees surrounding it comes into view.
“We’re here!” my mother chirps. I jump at the sudden noise, and groan. “Oh stop being so grumpy. We are going to have so much fun!”
“What’s fun about having no friends the whole summer and then going to a school with people you don’t know?” I asked rhetorically.
My mother ignores my curt comment and hops out of the car. The sun has started to go down and there’s a beautiful sunset on the horizon. I grunt in annoyance as I grab my backpack, pillow and bag of snacks from the car ride and open my door. My foot catches on the curb of the street and my things go flying across the sidewalk. A burning sensations spreads throughout my knees and hands as I hit the ground.
“Hey, are you alright?” I hear a voice. I’m not sure if I’m hearing things or not, considering I haven’t opened my eyes yet. When I look up I see a handsome boy that looks to be my age, staring down at me with a worried look on his face. He has dirty blonde hair that sticks up in a quiff, it reminds me of Luke Hemmings’. He looks about 5’11’’ with braud shoulders and tan skin.
My cheeks begin to heat up as I realize I probably look like a mess. I’ve been in the car for about ten hours so who knows what happened to my hair within that time period. “Um yeah I’m ok, thanks,” I say as he reaches his hand down to help me up. I take his large hand and he pulls me up, our bodies only a few inches apart. He smirks and I step back from the temptation.
“So what’s your name?” the boy says.
“I’m Joslyn.” I say looking at him with a small smile on my face. “How about you, what’s your name Blondie?”
He chuckles, “Cameron. Are you moving in?”
“No we just decided to park in a random driveway and I really wanted to throw my luggage across the sidewalk.” Maybe I should be more polite, I think as my sarcastic attitude comes across.
He smiles and laughs at my comment. “Your funny, you and your family should come over for dinner tonight if you don’t have plans?” he asks.
“Yeah sure I will ask my mom about it. My dad wont be here till later tonight, so he may not be able to come."
His smile grows with my acceptance and I notice he has deep dimples that are pressed into each of his cheeks. “Ok, do you have a phone that I could put my number into?”
“Nope,” I say with a smile as I pull it out, quickly typing in my password before handing it to him. He types his number in and passes it back to me. I look at his contact name and laugh at what he had put, “Cameron my sexy neighbor” with a bunch of hearts.
“I texted myself so I have your number. See you tonight Joslyn.”
“Bye Blondie.” I stay there for who knows how long just smiling, when I realize my things are still scattered across the ground. I lean down and gather my things in my arms.
My mother meets me at the door with a knowing smile on her face. “So I see you met someone. He’s cute too.”
“Mooom.” I complain.
“So who is he?"
“He lives next door and wants to know if we want to have dinner at their house tonight.”
“Oh yes! That would be wonderful!” she cheers. “Oh what should I wear, this will be fun.”
“Mom, just wear something decent, I’m going to choose my room.” I look down at my phone and see that Cameron My Sexy Neighbor texted me.
