Cameron’s POV

After informing my mom of our guests later tonight, I jog up the steps to my room. I drop down onto my bed and text Joslyn.

Come over at 5? –x C

Sounds good –x J

It’s already 4:30 so I decide to change into a plain black t-shirt and my light blue khaki shorts. Looking in the mirror, I fix my hair into my signature quiff.

“Cam!” I hear my moms voice carry up the steps.

“Yeah mom?”

“Come help me with dinner!” she says as I take the steps two at a time to go help in the kitchen. I can already smell the burgers my father is grilling outside. “Heat up the broccoli, will you?”

“Sure,” I say as I begin to put the broccoli in the microwave. Realizing we only have a few minutes till the Brady’s get here we speed up our motions so have dinner on the table before they arrive.

Ten minutes later I hear a knock on the door, hoping it’s Joslyn, I jog to the door and swing it open. Sighing, I see it’s just my best friend, Justin. “What do you want Justin?”

“Hey man, I wanted to see if you could come riding with me?” I look down and see that he has his skateboard propped on his leg.

“Nah, sorry I have company coming over,” I say glancing over his shoulder, hoping he will leave before the new neighbors arrive.

“Ah, ok I see how it is,” laughing he turns around and skates down the street.

Just as I close the door and start heading back to the kitchen, there’s another knock at the door. I turn and open it, not fully paying attention. I’m surprised when I feel a pair of arms wrap around my neck as Mrs. Brady hugs me. A chuckle is released from my throat as I see Joslyn staring at her mother in horror.

“Mom, get off of him!” she says as she peels her mother from me.

“It’s ok, I’m used to it, my mom is a hugger too.” I laugh.

Her face relaxes when she realizes that I don’t mind the hugs. I tug her into the dining room where my parents and her mom are already fixing their plates.

For the first time tonight, I take a look at what she’s wearing. A teal, short sleeve crop top with the word Obey printed on it drapes loosely over her shoulders. Looking down, I see high wasted, washed out jean shorts hugging her waist. She’s not one of those skinny ass girls that doesn’t eat anything, considering she has already finished her dinner, within ten minutes may I add. Her legs flex when she walks and it shows that she obviously plays sports.

I finish off my hamburger and lean over to her, “Hey do you want to go on a walk? I can show you around.”

She flashes a smile, “yeah, sure. Mom, Cam’s going to show me around.”

I smirk at the fact that she used my nickname. I take her hand and lead her out of the house.

Joslyn’s POV

As he grabs my hand, electricity shoots up my arm and a shiver erupts down my spine. We begin walking down the sidewalk, and when I look over at him, there’s a smirk plastered on his face. “What are you smiling about?”

“Do you want to go to the park over there?’ he asks, completely ignoring my question.

“Yes! I love parks!” I begin jumping up and down.

He tightens his hand around mine and we begin running towards the clutter of slides and bridges that bring back memories of childhood.

“I’ll race you to the top!” he yells.

“I’m going to win!” I yell back, making my way up to the highest point on the playground. He’s one step in front of me when we reach the top. Laughing, I put my hands on my knees to catch my breath. He places his hand on my back, while cracking up.

“I won.” he says.

“No shit, but it was unfair,” I complain.

“How so?” he inquires.

I don’t answer, just keep laughing. Then, I feel his hand move to my waist and I straighten. He has a smirk displayed on his face as he backs me up towards the enclosure surrounding us. My breath picks up, when he raps his arms around my waist. My hands reach up to lace around his neck.

I feel his lips brush the skin of my neck, and his hot breath puff out. “You’ve got some legs on you,” he whispers referring to me almost beating him in our little race.

The tips of my fingers dig into the skin at the back of his neck as my head rolls to the side. “I know,” I mutter. And with that, I slip out of his reach and smirk back at him as I make my way down the steps.

“You’re such a tease!” he yells as he chases after me. I flash an evil smile and keep walking out of the park. “I thought you wanted to stay here and play with me,” he says like a 4 year old.

I glance down at my watch and see we have only been out here for ten minutes. “Oh ok, yeah. Lets go down the biggest slide!”

He grabs my hand once again and we spend the next thirty minutes racing down slides and chasing each other around the park.

“My mom is probably wondering where I am, we should go back.” I say out of breath.

“Alright.” Making our way back to his house, we laugh and talk. He opens the door for me and we see that my mom was already getting ready to leave.

“Oh hey sweetie, are you ready to go?” my mom asks.

“Yep.” When I attempt to walk out behind my mother, a hand lightly grabs my arm.

“I’ll text you tomorrow?” Cam says.

“Ok!” I respond, excited for the next time we hung out.

Maybe this move won’t be so bad.
