Rose's povOnce upon a time
In a land far away
There lived a little boy
And he drank all day
Friends called him stupid
And his brothers called him gay
Emtpied all the bottles
Till the pain went away
I stared at the new house. Music blared in my ears as we pulled into the drive way.
I sighed as everyone got out. I sat there for a second, paused my music, and sighed in relief.
I got out and let my headphones rest on my neck, putting my phone in my pocket.
"Rose, your father and brothers are gonna unpack. You wanna go with me to meet our new neighbors?" My mom asked. I shrugged.
I followed her to our next door neighbor and sighed. The house was rather nice. It made me think of a sailor kind of thing with the theme.
Mom knocked on the door. There was a noise coming from inside and then the door opened to reveal a man.
He was tall, had a slight build to hinself. He had blonde hair and blue eyes. He wore a pink polo with a blue sweater rapped around his shoulders. He had on cackies and what looked like loafers.
"Hi, we just moved in next door, and we wanted to greet our new neighbors!" My mom said. The man smiled warmly.
"Oh, you must be the Ellis'! Nice to meet you, my name is Joseph Christianson. Please, come on in." He said. He moved to the side and mom smiled and stepped inside. I followed with a blank face as he shut the door behind us.
"My name is Sarah. This is my daughter, Rose. Rose, be social." She said. I hummed in response and nodded toward him.
"Pleased ta meet ya." I said. He smiled.
"Joseph! I'm heading out!! Crish is already in bed!" I heard a women yell. Joseph sighed.
"Wait, before you go, I'd like you to come here." He said. There were footsteps and a women, holding a wine glass in her hand, walked into veiw.
"Mary, these are the Ellis'. They just moved in next door." He said. Mary looked at us with a blank stare. But I could tell she was judging us.
"Mary and Joseph. Like the father and mother of Jesus? Lemme guess, you're a youth pastor, aren't you?" I said. My mom gave me a look.
"Rose." She said. I just stared at them with a bored look.
Mary smirked. Joseph was a little surprised but he composed himself and smiled.
"Yes, actually. I am. How did you guess?" He asked.
I shrugged and stared around.
"Sorry, she has a tendency to judge people based on there appearence." My mother said. I rolled my eyes.
"May, I step outside? I need some air." I said. She gave me an annoyed look. I could see out of the corner of my eyes, Mary was amused.
She's an alcholic. And by the looks of it, this is a failing marriage. Hmm..4 kids..the oldest, twins, and a baby.
And Joseph is hiding something.
"Rose-" Mary cut her off.
"I'll go out with her. I actually have a friend of mine I'd like her to meet. It seems like they'd get along well." Mary said. I raised a brow as mom looked at me for an answer.
