Name: Valen Serkquet (Vay-lehn Ser-ket)
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Appearance: At home or around his neighborhood, you'd see Valen don a pair of finely-polished silver glasses and a large shirt that covers his slim physique. He looks like the average boy: Icy blue eyes, dark tousled hair, tall figure—he looks like a handsome young man living the average life. However, during the school years, Valen's messy, sleepy, pissed-off appearance is immediately thrown down the gutter, and instead of a huge t-shirt draped over his torso, he replaces it with a tight-fitting ebony shirt and a gray leather jacket. Valen's muscles are now more evident, and his clothing choices always show off his lean body. Even so, with or without the dark fabric and jacket, Valen still stands with a defying, threatening aura of power that can be felt by anybody close to his age. So, with that said, it doesn't matter what he puts on—Hello Kitty pajamas, a shock-white ballroom gown, heck, even a green bodysuit—he's always going to seem commanding in one way or another. His smile is comforting and warm, but should one ever dare to deny him of what he wants, Valen's grin will turn into a frosty, unforgiving simper.
Personality: Valen is, to put it bluntly, a huge son of a bitch. Of course, it's not anything new to expect from a bully—in fact, it's even expected at this point. Maybe you'd have him figured out by now, just by reading the first sentence, but don't be so sure. He's much more complicated than one can see at first glance. Valen, more often than not, can get easily bored, and this leads to quite a few bad habits. He makes shady deals and turns to dirtier options rather than finding a nice way to solve his problems. He even goes so far as to do horrifying things to his "boring" friends—some instances almost or actually have led to death. Valen's a manipulative trickster, and he's got a voice that could mess with anyone in any situation. Due to his playboy, monarch-like personality, Valen holds himself in high regards and aims high in his ambitions. Don't dare think for a second that a young adult such as himself will back down to easily.
Background: Once in his life, Valen used to be the hunted and not the hunter. He was picked on in elementary school, beat up in seventh and eighth grade—the typical underdog life for a typical underdog story. It was the same cycle everyday: Wake up, go to school, suffer a anxiety-inducing and suffocating wave of torment, go home with a few bruises and puffy eyes, sleep fitfully, repeat drearily. Life at home was drastically different from school, with loving parents and a decent amount of money to spare so that he could treat himself every now and then—but Valen wanted nothing more than to break out of the torturous cycle. It was always the same. Always the exact routine, forever to be stuck in a droll loop that will go on and on and on... always....
It went on until freshman year of high school—that was when Valen had enough. He had walked into the corridors, head bowed to avoid looking at anybody, until finally somebody came up to him and "accidentally" shoved their shoulder into him. It hit Valen hard; he stumbled back, yelping in pain as his glasses fell, breaking as soon as the silver rims hit the floor. Before he could even bend down to pick it up, Valen was pushed forward, and he staggered over, breaking his eyeglasses. Before he knew it, Valen was running into the men's bathroom, waiting out for a few minutes so that the embarrassment would pass by. And then there were harassers, taunters, bullies—crowding around him and giving him no room to breathe. Today, Valen has infallible recall of the pain and humiliation that caused him to lay in a hospital bed for the next week.
He would never forget that experience... and nor would he let it be forgotten. The moment he was permitted to return to school again, Valen donned himself in entirely different clothing: The black shirt and leather jacket setup that is now his trademark look. He changed himself entirely, letting the rage in his heart turn into black hatred, and a desire grew within him. It was an urge so strong, so unstoppable, that Valen didn't dare let fear get the best of him anymore. It was time to take control of his life. As Valen stepped onto school property on his first morning back and held his head high with anger fueling his purpose, there was only one thing his mind was hellbent on achieving:
Revenge.
It was what Valen wanted, and he got it. The same group of people cornered him by his locker, jeering at his even weirder attire and weak attempt at changing himself, but Valen wasn't fazed. He wouldn't let himself give in. It wasn't until the bullies began to stalk closer, like they did on the first day school, that Valen suddenly noticed one of them (a senior boy with slicked-back hair and a shit-eating grin) holding a lit cigarette. Impulsively, Valen snatched it from the guy's loose grip—and stabbed the smoking end of the cigarette into each of his eyes. The boy went blind, screaming and blaming Valen, but the latter managed to get out of the situation. After all, Valen was the one being bullied.
You'd think that Valen would be happy after that satisfying act.
No, he wasn't.
The desire to make the others suffer and serve him was too strong, and it grew worse with each passing month. Valen began to put down others in his way, verbally and physically abusing other students to get what he wanted. It seems harsh enough, just to say it like that, but there's more to discuss. Much more. From here was when the details of his story become gruesome. This was when the days of Valen's life turned dark.
Valen did more than get somebody blinded. He had signed other people up for date-rape, pressured many individuals to mutilate themselves, and has even caused a few suicides—but there is one crime that stands out to all students the most, the one incident where the most rumors came from. A few months after blinding the cigarette boy, he had warmed up to a cute girl with a long, punk-like, half-shaved hairstyle; Taylor was her name. They got along together without any sort of trouble, and Taylor and Valen fell in love. It didn't end well, to say the least. One day, he and Taylor were arguing on her house rooftop, fighting over a touchy subject. Then, suddenly, Taylor decided that she'd had enough of his idiocy, lurching to her feet and walking to the tree that she would have to climb down in order to get to the ground. Still infuriated, Valen got up right after she did, and kicked with all his might at her lower leg. Taylor stumbled—she flipped over the roof's edge—and she landed on the top part of her back. From then on, Taylor would be crippled from the waist down. Valen did not care or feel any remorse. Taylor hurt his feelings, he reasoned, so why shouldn't he repay her? After her "accident," Valen even came up to her and actually demanded an apology for making him kick her off that roof. Now, Taylor is not only paralyzed, but she has also developed a speech impediment. She can no longer speak full sentences without saying "uh" at least once.
Valen has been walking over people for well over five years, harassing and pushing others to the brink of self-harm and depression. He had even tried to murder somebody he hated, once—but that is a different story for a different day. But, for now, one thing is crystal clear, a fact set in stone: Valen will not rest until his thirteen-year-long thirst for revenge will be quenched.
Why they deserve to lead Hell: Valen's the pre-rebellion Lucifer, if you will. Those who have read the Bible—actually, this is supposedly common knowledge by now—will know that before he became Satan, Lucifer was the brightest of all the angels of God; Heaven's beautiful morning star whose voice could capture the hearts of many. Valen is more than capable of filling those shoes, for Satan does more than just send demons out to do his bidding. Satan also does his own dirty work, whispering beautiful lies into the ears of innocents and slowly pulling them away from their only hope, the God that he feels should be defeated. However, one thorough read through the book of Revelation and it is obvious that Lucifer's reign of terror will soon come to an end—and perhaps Valen may be able to step up as the new morning star of Hell.
What song represents your character: Wonderland by Caravan Palace. The genre of electronic jazz perfectly melds with Valen's personality, with swinging notes and abrupt snares that constantly give me a sense of "Wow, I feel evil. Let's traumatize some people!" and I realized that's quite literally what he does. In the animated music video, the main character dreams about constantly stepping over other people that act as emotionless slaves, and quite literally, too. There's even a scene that has no animation at all, but it shows the effect of the character's actions; the camera pans across of a large mass of people, all dressed like servants or slaves and piled on top of each other. That is exactly the impression that Valen has left on his school.
