"Toni wake up you got  school today," her mother yelled from downstairs while making breakfast.

"Aight, aight I'm up," she replied while rubbing the sleep out of her eyes. She finished her hygiene and began to get dressed.

"Now what am I finns to wear today?" she asked her self as was flipping through clothes in her closet. Toni isn't what you would call a fashionista. Her daily attire usually consists of basketball shorts, her Roshi running shoes, and a Nike tee with a cool quote on the front.

Toni ended up choosing some black running shorts, her blue soled Roshe runs, and a blue Nike tee that said, "basketball never stops."

She packed an extra bag with her basketball clothes in it for tryouts later today.

" Toni, the bus is here!" Toni's  mother shouted.

Toni quickly ran down the stairs with everything she needed in hand. On the way out of the living room, she grabbed a home made bagel (by her mother of course) and outside to the bus stop.

"Wait!" she screamed to the bus driver at the top of her lungs. Eventually the bus slowed to a stop a few feet ahead of her.

" Be on time next time" the bus driver said as she walked on the bus. As soon as she got on, she immediately wanted to get off. "Why are all these white kids staring at me?" Toni asked herself as she was looking for a seat.

"You can sit here" someone in the back said.

When she saw where the voice was coming from, she saw that it was a nerdy looking black boy with his face glued to a Sports Illustrated magazine.

"Thanks" Toni said and sat next to him.

" I'm Logan," he said with his hand extended towards her.

"Uh, I'm Toni," I replied awkwardly while shaking his hand.

"Haven't seen you around the neighborhood or at school before, are you new?"

"Yea I'm from Compton "

She almost laughed at how big his eyes got but immediately acted like she didn't notice. "So I see you're into sports," she said referring to his magazine.

"Oh yeah," he replied nervously," I read about sports but I Dont play any. So I'm guessing you play basketball?"

"How did you k-" then she realized that he figured because of her shirt. "Well yea I do."

As the bus pulled up to the school Toni became even more nervous than the second before. What will the kids think of her? Will she even make any friends? Those were the questions running through her head

as she exited the bus.
