four.

Kei paces around in a line for a solid ten seconds before she even begins to get her head together. She sets down her pokemon softly on the bed and Teddiursa looks up at her, eyes lessening in their glossiness as the bear sniffles up a bubble of snot that had begun to drip from its nose.

"Do you know what the hell is going on?" Kei asks the creature, but is only rewarded with Teddiursa cocking its head to the side, looking just as confused as she feels.

"Ursa?" It coos.

"No? Okay. Awesome. Great. Fantastic." Says Kei, going back to pacing the length of the room as her pokemon watches with concerned eyes. "I really am going crazy, aren't I?"

"Teddi." Says the pokemon again and Kei flops over on the bed and groans real loud into a pillow.

"I don't know what you're saying." Kei whines as she rolls over again and looks at the ceiling. "Sorry."

Teddiursa climbs up and plops over next to Kei on the comforter, giving the girl a sympathetic look.

"I justㅡI don't get it," Kei says to no one in particular as she stares real hard at the ceiling. "Did I get sucked into my pokemon game?"

Teddiursa makes another noise, and Kei squirms a bit more in irritated desperation before jolting up to a sitting position. She takes a deep breath, and then two more for good measure, before settling into a decision.

"I'm just going to go with it." She announces. Exhales. Tries to ignore how something inside of her feels likes it tearing open. Like a stressed vein. Or maybe her spleen. "What's the worst that could happen? I mean, odds are this is all come crazy dream. I have to wake up eventually. And I can't hide in here forever."

She doesn't know why she glances at Teddiursa for clarity, but somehow she feels a little better when the pokemon seems to mewl in agreement.

"Okay. I'm fine. Everything is fine." Kei repeats to herself, like if she says it over and over maybe maybe the statement will hold an inkling of truth. At some point she jumps off the bed and onto her feet, with a sense sort-of renewed confidence.

"I should probably get dressed..." Kei remarks, taking a first look at her clothes. They're pajamas, really. Grey sweatpants and a tshirt that's perhaps a couple sizes too large. "Yeah, I should definitely change."

Her eyes flicker around the room for a moment before settling on a chair shoved in the corner. On the cushion lay a single-strapped backpack the color of peaches.

"Guess this must be mine." Kei strides over and unzips the largest pouch. She pulls out three sets of the same outfit.

A sleeveless black dress whose neckline tapers to a sharp V, the miniskirt switching abruptly from black to pink towards the end, where the fabric stop just about mid-thigh. A white tank top for underneath. Black knee-high socks and pink boots the same color as her skirt. A pink scarf a couple shades darker than her than her boots.

She realizes, after she's peeled out of her pj's and into the ensemble, that it's practically identical to what her avatar wore in her game. Minus the hat. And her hair is a tad different.

Kei slings the strap of her pack diagonally across her chest and lets the weight settle over her before swirling back to look at Teddiursa.

"Okay," Kei breathes. "How ridiculous do I look?"

The bear simply cocks its head again. "Teddi."

"You know what," She decides. "Never mind. Lets do this."

Kei scoops the normal-type into her arms and steps towards the door, steeling herself before twisting the knob and opening the passage to an adventure she could have never foreseen.
