Camryn & Jacquees Ch6

~Jacquees' POV~

Cam was over my house doing homework and studying with me. My mama was at work and Miracle was at her friend's house so Cam and I had the house to ourselves. Her parents were both at work so she was safe with me. Cam had nothing to worry about with me.

"I am starving. You want something?" I asked her.

"I'll take some water," she says looking at me for a brief moment before looking at her homework again.

"You know you want some food. I wanna go out to eat."

"Que, you already spent money this week on me. I don't need you doing that for me."

I leaned down towards her and said, "I'm just being a gentleman, Cam. Let's just go."

She looked at me and smiled. "Okay, but after we finish our homework though."

"Bet."

After we finished our homework, we were sitting inside Ruby Tuesday. I enjoy this place, but I'm enjoying it even more because Cam is with me. While waiting on our main dishes, we drank our drinks and feasted on an appetizer.

"I'm going to Issa's house for a BBQ this Saturday," I said. "You wanna join me?"

She looked at me and said, "Lindsey invited me too. She says her and Issa are cousins."

"They are. She told you about it?"

"Yes she did. She invited me and I told her I'll be there if I'm not busy."

"Well if you're not busy, you can ride with me then."

"All right."

Cam was smiling and all, but I can sense a bit of hurt behind her happy mask.

"Why were you so mean in the beginning?" I asked needing to know. Cause everybody who has came in contact with me, they are pretty nice and respectful to me.

"What do you mean?" Cam asked taking a sip of her Sprite.

"In the beginning, you were so uptight and snappy at me. I mean like I haven't done anything to you to make you treat me this way."

Cam laughed and then looked at me seriously.

"I apologize, Que," she says. "It's just . . ."

"Just what? What is it?"

She shook her head. "Naw don't worry about it."

"But I am worrying about it. If I didn't care, I wouldn't have asked you."

Cam shook her head and bit into her appetizer.

"Can I tell you at a later time?" she asked avoiding eye contact with me.

I really wanted her to tell me what was up with her wall in the beginning of us meeting, but I could tell Cam was getting uncomfortable so I let it go . . .For now.

"Yeah sure. You can tell me later," I said.

She gave me a reassuring smile. Our food came and we dug in while having another conversation about something totally different.

I know this was short but I've been busy lately with college work and trying to get ready for the summer.

But I should be uploading my next chapter later on today or sometime on Sunday.
