Chapter 29

I open my eyes. I see Ian still asleep. I rise up and grab my phone.

Opal: I told my dad you went to spend the night at Jens. You welcome. Luckily Jen left already.

Kyle: Did you have fun?

Jen: Opal told me. If her dad ask. Your here.

Luke: Please tell me you guys didn't.
Luke: Cazey...
Luke: Please tell me you listened.

I look at Ian... What if he does end it here? What if this was his plan? I grab my clothes and start getting dressed. I look over at Ian... I hear my phone vibrate.

Kyle: I'm sorry... I wasn't honest with you...

I go to the bathroom and wipe my face off. I leave the bathroom and Ian still sleeping. I sigh. Should I leave?

Opal: Is Ian awake? Leave before he does!!! Hurry! I'll explain at home!

I grab my purse and heels. I shut the door. I use my phone to call a taxi. I wait about ten minutes before the taxi gets here. I get in. I tell him where to go.

I sigh.

"Wild night?" The driver ask.

"Don't be nosy." I say.

He stays quiet and drops me off. I pay him. I get out and go to Opal's room.

"What's going on? He was still asleep."

"Everything Luke said was true. They were all in on it. Luke didn't like it so he told you... Kyle just told me this morning."

I sit down. "So... If he would've woke up first... I would've woke up alone... Like I basically did to him."

"Kyle said... That Ian never loved you...."

I feel my tears start coming. They stroll down my cheeks.

"So... It was all a lie."

I hear my phone ring. I look and see its Ian calling me. I stare at it.

"Hello?" I whisper.

"What happened? Where'd you go?"

"I didn't wanna wake you so I just left. I'm sorry... See you at school."

"Can we talk?"

"No." I say.

"What?"

"I'm not letting you leave me."

I hang up. I wipe my eyes.

"Cazey."

"I shouldn't of... I should've... Why didn't Kyle stop me?" I start crying.

Opal hugs me. I cover my face.

The next day I'm at my locker. Opal is standing by me. I hear footsteps approach.

"I don't wanna talk." I say.

"It's Jen."  Opal says.

"Tell Ian and Kyle to go away. Luke is fine... He tried to help. The other two... I don't even want to look at." I say.

"I don't think that's gonna be a problem." Opal says.

I look at her. I look over in the direction she is. I see Siddy and Ian making out.

I feel my heart hurt. I drop everything in my hands. I look down at my stuff. Opal sighs and starts helping me pick it up.

"I'll be back." Jen says.

She throws her stuff down. She walks over there. She pulls Sydney away from Ian. Punches her in the face. Then looks at Ian and punches him too. She walks back over.

"I don't think he learned his lesson, but good enough." Jen says.

"I wanna go home." I say. "I can't be here anymore... We didn't break up. We're still together. He's cheating on me... I can't accept this." I say.

"Cazey. Ever since the beginning of this book. You have been strong. You are not gonna let some fuckboi and his slutty girlfriend tear you apart like this! Let's confront him. I'll swing on him! Let's swing on Sydney too."

I smile. "Can we go home? Please."

Opal nods. I put my books in my locker and shut it.

"We can pick up some food on the way and you can eat your life away." Opal says as we walk away.

"That sounds great. Can Jen come?"

Opal turns. "Jen! You too!"

She smiles and skips her way over. I let Opal drive us home. She said I was to unstable. I'm not, but whatever. We stop at the corner store. I look across from the street and see the park. He asked me to prom at that park.

They come back in the car. Then drive off. I go into her room. I see the posterboard and flowers. I go over to it. I rip it in half. Then rip it again. Then again.

I stare at it. I grab a piece. Our first kiss. The football stadium. I look at another picture that survived the ripping. The time I was sitting on the bench and he randomly tried to talk to me and I walked away. There's the time when we was waiting on Jen and Opal to come out practice. The first time. The time I twisted my ankle. I see a tear drop land on the picture. Stay strong Cazey. Author... Help me stay strong...

Ian p.o.v.

I look over at Cazey at her locker. Opal standing with her. She looks sad. Heartbroken.

"Happy Sydney?" I ask. "I broke her."

Sydney smiles. "Did you guys actually break up? Like have you said it."

"She left the hotel room before I woke up, so not yet."

"Perfect."

She grabs my collar and pulls me down to her. Not connecting our lips fully. Close enough to make it look real.

I feel someone yank Sydney away. Jen punches her in the face. Then looks at me and punches me in the face. I deserved that.  She turns and walks away.

"I thought you really loved Cazey. Why would you do that? She even hates me because you asked me to lie. I should've just told her. I lied to her. I looked her in the eyes. And lied. You did too." Kyle says.

"I know. I don't regret it."

"What part do you not regret? Lying... Or dating her?"

I sigh. I look over at her. She puts her stuff in her locker. Opal grabs her hand and they walk to the exit. I look away. I think my nose is bleeding.

"Jerk!" Luke yells. "I don't even wanna be your friend? We've been friends since middle school and I don't want to anymore!!"

I'll admit. I don't regret dating her. It honestly was the best few months of my life. I was happy. I'm pretty sure she was happy. She was great girl and I did have second thoughts about going through with this plan. It's over though. I just gotta end it. Officially.
