~Present Day [Before start of Tokyo Ghoul]~
She sat in her office, doing some paperwork on the Binge Eater. Its activity in the 20th ward had picked up, making it a newer ward that needed investment into. She wrote what she knew about it and then signed it, her Kanji made in a few swift strokes. She had been placed under Arima Kishou up until she became a senior investigator. She had started working as an investigator earlier than most did, Being the youngest in her Academy Class. She was 18 when most everyone else was in their early 20s. She was placed in the S3 squad at first, but now has a pending transfer to the Arima squad. She was called a prodigy, being skilled in quick combat and having a faster reaction time than most humans ever will. She went through the Junior investigator ranks quickly, rising to a First class investigator and deciding that she wants to stay there for a while. She hears a knock, knowing that it's her superior.
"Come in" She chimed, opening the files that litter her desk. She also pulled up some digital files on her computer.
"Ukuzen, have you been looking through the files I sent to you?" He closed the door behind him, the tall man sitting in one of the chairs adjacent to you, his glasses glistening.
"Yes, Sir I have. The Binge Eater Ghoul seems to be moving across the ward, in a pattern-like sense. They jump from crowded residential area to area. I say we keep an eye on it." She rifled through the papers, showing him all the ones that match her theory. "What do you say, Senior Investigator Arima?"
"I believe you're correct. If your predictions come through, I'll see to it that you become squad coordinator. Only. If your predictions come through." He adjusted his sitting position, now leaned over her desk. "I trust that you're right, Anou."
Her cheeks tint at the mention of her first name. He had used it before, but only in fast paced situations. "I take it would only be formal that I call you Kishou as well." Flustered, she smoothed her hair.
That coaxed a small smile from the man. Seeing her flustered made her cute. He enjoyed it. He could feel his attachment to her growing into a want to protect her. He felt the affection bubbling.
The woman smiled. Her teeth were white. They brought out her green eyes. They were filled with life. She held his gaze, his gray orbs dancing with the pleasure of her company.
He cleared his throat, breaking the silence. "Ukuzen, would you like to go for dinner sometime? I'd like to get to know more about you." His spectacles glint.
"Excuse me? Don't you already know everything about me?" The woman questioned. She hadn't expected that question. It was odd coming from him. Her face tinted again, a deeper shade of crimson. "I believe that I would enjoy that, however. I'll take you up on the offer."
"Great. We can discuss the details on a later date." He softly smiled. "I'll make sure the transfer gets finalized soon." He then stood and walked to the door. "See you, Anou," and with that, he left. He wanted her under his wing. So he could protect her and keep an eye on her. He knew that there was a great chance of her being the Little Owl Ghoul he encountered ten years ago. He couldn't be certain until he had solid evidence, however. Her hair color matched along with the tone of her voice. But he couldn't be certain with that little evidence. He had come across another Ghoul, the One Eyed Owl, who looks strikingly similar to her. He guessed that they were closely related.
The woman stood and looked out her window at the Tokyo skyline. It was probably about time for her to visit Anteiku. She knew her father would start to worry. She then turned and looked at her desk, stretching out her back and then sitting back down to work on the paperwork she needed to finish.
She awoke to a slight shaking and her name being called. She opened her eyes and she was in her office. "What time is it? Was I asleep?" She lifted her head and unstuck the papers that had found their way onto her face.
"It's midnight. I saw your light on, I thought you'd left a few hours ago. I didn't expect to find you here." He helped you gather your things, putting all the important files in a stack. "Do you want me to walk you home?"
"No, I'm okay. I'm going to go visit family since I have the day off tomorrow. I'm sure their all eager to see me." She then remembered that her parents were 'dead'. "They're my extended family. I don't see them very often. I only just recently found out where they-" A yawn cut off her sentence. "I need to be getting home"
"I'll walk you home, then." The man insists. He then picked up her things and led her to the door. He looked down at the woman, noticing how small she is. He'd noticed it before while they were together, but it never seemed that obvious until he looked at her sleepy form walking down the hall.
She walked down the hall, like a zombie. She felt Arima's presence behind her, not too close, but not too far either. She knew she could trust him not to let her fall if she were to doze off. She got into the elevator and pressed G with muscle memory. The man stood beside her, watching her every move. She yawned, not really noticing her body leaning on the man. She felt herself dosing off, but she was too tired to prolong it.
She awoke in her bed. Not remembering how she got there. She realized that she was still in her pencil skirt and stockings but wearing her undershirt that was under her suit top. She stretched up and yawned, waking herself up. She figured that she had fallen asleep sometime at work and was brought home by Arima. She then went to get dressed to visit her father. She put on an off-the-shoulder sweater and a cardigan. She then decided on a cute skirt and some sneakers, completely loosing her Ghoul Investigator look that she had most days. She looked at herself in the mirror, putting her green hair into twin buns to complete her look. She grabbed her satchel and put the door she went.
