Anou awoke in her room in Anteiku. She rolled over and looked around, trying to shake the grogginess of sleep that still clung to her. She sat up and yawned, stretching out her still sleeping muscles. She stood, going to the sink in her room. She looked at herself, her eyes still half-closed. Her hair was a mess. She picked up a brush and tried to tame the beast it had become, It wasn't as cooperative as she wished it would be, though. It was tangled in almost every lock. What had been her dream? She sighed and turned her sink on, dunking her head under the cold water coming from the faucet. She felt herself start to wake up after that.

After a quick washing of her hair, she brushed it out and put it into a tight bun that she usually wore to work. She smelled some employees come into the shop to help her father get everything ready for the day. She assumed that it was Enji and Irimi, they were the only true full-time workers employed. The rest were part-time workers because they were either in College or High school. She then walked to her closet and got out her suit dress and put it on, she had to have it tailored to fit her because of her size. She pinned her CCG pin on the lapel of her collar and found some tan tights to put on. She put on some black pumps and looked at herself in the mirror. She looked like a secretary that would work at the main office. Not a First Class Investigator with skill that few had.

She looked around and picked up her stuff to put in her hamper. She quickly blew dry the rest of her hair that hadn't dried yet. She picked up her purse after making sure she looked acceptable and walked down the stairs to the Cafe. She smiled and breathed in the fresh smell of coffee "I have to be off now if I want to stop by my apartment and get to work on time, could I have some coffee to take with me? I'm sure that would put my superiors at ease if I'm late." She smiled at Enji, "Please?"

He smiled back. "Of course, Anou, Your regular, right?" He watched as she nodded. he poured her a cup and handed it to her, watching as she smiled and took a sip.

"Can I have two to-go, too?" She sipped her coffee, letting its sweet taste caress her mouth. She smiled at Enji as he gave her two to-go cups of coffee. She went to say goodbye to her father and out she went.

She walked into the office, saying hello to everybody who greeted her. She smiled and got into the elevator, pressing 6, it being the floor with the Special Investigator offices. She rode it up, holding her quinque and struggling with the two cups of coffee. She stepped out of the Elevator and turned to walk to Arimas' office. She knocked and waited to be invited inside, which she was after a second of waiting. She opened the door and smiled, "I brought us some coffee from the best coffee shop in all of Tokyo!" She sat down her quinque and walked over to his desk, putting his cup next to him and sitting in the seat opposite of him. "What happened on my day off?" She looked up at the man as she sipped her coffee.

"We haven't had any activity out of the 20th ward. However, the 11th ward situation is starting to become dire. I suggested at a meeting that we move some more pairs over to the 20th ward to help if the ghouls of the 11th ward start to move into the 20th." He watched as she nodded. Her hair was in its usual bun, he noted, and the seriousness in her emerald eyes kept him from mentioning that she looked refreshed from her day off. He knew that she was overworking herself. He didn't understand why she was because she was young. She was 24. She could be doing anything she wanted, working small hours, having lots of days off. But instead, she chooses to work long hours and have one day off a month. He wondered why she wasn't getting out and doing things. An investigators life was usually short-lived. Maybe he was just overthinking it. She seemed passionate about being an investigator. He envied her passion. He wished that he still had his, but he had lost it a long time ago. He sipped his coffee and softly smiled, "Thanks for the coffee"

She nodded, entranced by the small smile he was giving her. She hadn't seen him smile but maybe once or twice. She enjoyed it. She studied the man, His platinum hair shone in the office lighting and his soft gray eyes had a hint of fondness to them, which caused her eyes to soften and a small smile to creep onto her face. She was glad. Glad to have someone to finally watch her back. She hoped that she could trust him with her one most timid secret. She wasn't ready to give that away just yet, though.
