Tomorrow is the day that I fly to the States as an exchange student. I can't wait to meet my host family, they aren't uptight and the bond they have is what you'd called family goals. I've facetimed them a lot, they have a daughter too! Her name is Esther, and I swear she could be signed as a model, she looks good in anything she wears, I'm just your average basic girl I guess. But as soon as I found out we were going to be living together, We've been non stop snapping each other. She has been telling me about her boyfriend Ethan constantly, makes me excited to meet the guy who has made her so happy. The thought of leaving my boyfriend Jack kills me, but I have to do it.
The Next Day
"Hailey hurry up your plane leaves in an hour", like I could forget, I've been dreaming about this day for literally years. And today is the day, the first day of my new life, my dream life. New Jersey looks so beautiful, but not as green as New Zealand. Leaving is going to do me good, leaving all the bad, and my school uniform, into a fresh environment. I've never been the new girl before, this is going to be scary.
I take a quick shower, leaving my hair dry. I pick out some black adidas sweatpants, an oversized vans hoodie with my nike air forces. I hurry out the door into my childhood car that i'm not going to see for a long time.
As we head to the airport the car ride is silent, Mum doesn't want me to leave, my Dad is happy for me, and my brother Cade couldn't care less. "Hails just know you can always change your mind and come home" Mum tells me, she's so sweet, Mum and Jack are the only reasons I don't want to leave. "Thanks Mum I'm going to miss you" The whole car ride we were listening to Harry Styles album, we both love it and got 3 tickets for when I come home, it's something we can both look forward to, Mum, Jack and I.
I say my goodbyes, Mum and Dad are hugging me tightly and Cade's just making it all into a joke, as to be expected, but I don't take it to heart, we are both just awkward when it comes to talking about loving each other. I look at Jack and he can't look at me in the eye, he's so hurt that I'm leaving him. I jump into his arms, resting my head into the crook of his neck. "Hailey I love you, don't forget about me when you have the time of your life", Jack whispers. "I love you Jack, I'll message you when I arrive". I couldn't let go, I'm going to cherish this moment since we aren't going to see each other for a long time. Jack hugged me tighter when the name of my flight was called, "don't say goodbye" Jack repeats several times tearing up. "We will FaceTime each other as soon as I make it, you can come visit, I have to go", I rip his arms of me, feeling guilt arise in my stomach. "Next time you see me we will be jumping up for the Sign of the Times" I wave as I board the plane and to my new home.
