Hailey is an exchange student from New Zealand, she's moved to New Jersey for the next year. Her host family is great, but her neighbors catch her attention; Grayson Dolan. Problem is she has her boyfriend Jack back home.
The rest of my night consisted of watching the Dolan Twins videos, I have to admit they are very funny. I watched them for hours and I manage to text back Jack. Asking to facetime.
Jack: Hey babe Hailey: Heyyyyy i've missed you so much, i really need a hug. Jack: Yeah me too, I have been really busy lately. You know exams are coming up in New Zealand, but with you gone so is most of my distraction. Hailey: Haha thanks? Jack: Aw I'm joking I love you, are you excited for your first day tomorrow? Hailey: I'm hella nervous, I hope Esther is in a couple of my classes Jack: I'm sure she will be, well lunch time is nearly over I have to go to period 4. Be sure to keep messaging me. Hailey:How could I not Jack: Because you're having the time of your life Hailey: Without you Jack: Yes I know Hailey: Bye I should be asleep by now Jack: Goodnight princess.
Before I hang up I see my ex best friend Georgia in the background. Since when have they been hanging out? She made my life at school a living hell and she's sitting with my boyfriend at lunch wtf.
I play Harry Styles album to calm me down, knowing that in 6 months Jack, Mum and I will be in the same room as my idol makes me so happy again. I really miss Mum we are really close, every night we would watch all our favourite shows. She loves Riverdale and Thirteen Reasons Why lately, she better not watch the upcoming season without me, or worse with Cade, that would be the ultimate betrayal.
As Harry is blessing my ears I pick an outfit for first day, I pick out some black leggings a white see through top with my edgy denim jacket, it has Metallica stitched on the back. Yes I do listen to Metallica, I am not that white girl cringe who doesn't know what they're wearing. Again I go for my black SK8 HIs. After that I hop into a hot steamy shower, deep conditioning my hair. Once I leave the shower I head to Esther's room, "Essie do you have some nail polish? Ahhhhh i'm so sorry" slamming the door. I just walked in on Esther and Ethan in bed, I need to block that out of my vision. I'm going to have to find some nail polish from Kate. I go downstairs and Kate directs me to the family bathroom, they have a whole tray of nail polish to choose from, there would have to be 200 shades. I go for a nude, heading back up stairs.
While my nails dry I text Grayson, he's so thoughtful. The more I talk to him, the more the feelings grow, weakening my bond from Jack. I fall to sleep cuddling my pillow thinking of Grayson, I need to fix this asap.
The Next Day I open my eyes and jump out of my bed as soon as my alarm goes off, no snoozing today. I have to get up so much earlier here, at 5:45am to be exact. Back home I wouldn't even get out of bed until 8. I get dressed into my pre planned outfit and start to apply some fresh looking makeup. I spend 10 minutes on that, finishing off with pulling my hair out of the low pony. Today my hair isn't being such a mess, maybe since I spent half an hour last night deep condition it last night. I head downstairs for breakfast already been served on the table by Esther. She really is a sweetheart. Today she made me love heart shaped waffles. "Hailey I'm so sorry you had to walk on that last night, but what's up with you and Grayson? I thought you had a boyfriend?" I knew this was coming, "I don't know about Jack anymore, he's being hanging around my ex best friend who made me leave school", I say, "Grayson is a good guy please don't hurt him". Her words make me feel so guilty.
Time flies to 6:30, Grayson and Ethan come through the door gesturing us to their car. "Hailey come on drive with us" Ethan says, "I want to take the bus, always been a thing I wanted to do" I say as I leave the door, it's still dark and I have no clue where the bus stop is but I'll manage. "Hailey wait up" Grayson's voice becomes louder as he catches up, "You going on the bus?" I ask, "Sure am" he say winking at me, this guy makes me seriously blush. He finds the bus stop and we sit down, again eyes connecting. "I hope we have classes together Hails" "Me too, you're okay company" I say wiggling my eyebrows.
The bus arrives, as we aboard the bus everyone knew who Grayson was, it was strange to say the least. It takes ten minutes to get to the school, Grayson is like a social butterfly he was handling so many conversations at once. He reaches for my hand and I don't stop him, "What do I do when we get there Gray?" I ask. "Its both of our first days we can be clueless together", he says bringing me closer, he makes me feel so safe.
The school is massive and the structure is completely different to New Zealand schools. I can't wait for sports games and cheerleading. I want to get the full American experience. Grayson and I go to the front desk asking for our home room, we are together! Our lockers and a block apart though. In homeroom the teacher gives us our timetables for the year, we have the same classes each day. So different to New Zealand. "Hailey we have 4 periods together" Grayson says with excitement. We share Biology, Physics, History and Math. Grayson also takes gym and some film course and I take geography and photography.
All my classes are pretty strict, we are all in seating plans according to our last name. My last name is Denon, so I hope I manage to sit next to Grayson. I know no one and it's pretty scary. I have never been the new girl before. "Seat 7 Denon, Seat 8 Dolan", (AHHH internally screaming) In every class we have together we have to sit together, like that's going to be an issue. He is the only friend I have so far, I see myself getting close to him, I seriously need to distance myself.
After School I start walking to the bus stop, Grayson chasing after to me once again. "Hey Dora" he winks, "Seriously stop with that" I reply. We head to a two seater that is rather quiet, "So Hailey how was your first day back?" "Great Dolan, how was yours?" "So much better this is going to be a great year, especially with you here" Whenever he speaks to me I blush.
We walk back to our houses, he asks to hang out but I decline. I'm gaining feelings for a guy who isn't my boyfriend. I love Jack and cheating on him would hurt him and me so much. I head inside instantly having a shower, the weather is so much hotter here. I sit down starting all my homework, there is so much more homework in America it's unreal.
My phone starts ringing, it was jack. Hailey: Hello babe Jack: How was your first day? Hailey: It was great, so different to back home. Jack: I see you're friends with the Dolan Twins. (WHAT THE HELL HOW DOES HE KNOW THE DOLAN TWINS AND KNOW THAT I KNOW THEM AHHHHHH WTFFF) Hailey: Ahh not really, they're my neighbour Esther dates Ethan Jack: Well Grayson sounds fond of you by his latest post Hailey: I'll check it out later but I already have a ton of Physics homework, cya babe love you Jack: Bye hails
