Dear readers,
I'm sorry for having left you without new chapters for months. I have been going through some ups and downs (maybe one day I will write about that! Who knows?! :D) But yeah, it's high time for me to complete this story for you! You will have new chapters regularly as from now until the end of this amazing and inspiring life story!
****************
Years rushed by and with each year, love grew deeper. At least that was what Maddox felt. There could not be any other girl who could love him more or maybe, there could not be anyone he could love more, he thought. Deborah was his chosen one. And Angel, a friend he could not go without.
Even after Maddox learnt about the hideous reason for which Deborah's parents stopped her from talking to him, he did not give up. He knew that all he had to do was to love Deborah even harder. Despite the hatred that Mr and Mrs Franklin had for the young man, the latter still trusted his stepmom's words, that love is way stronger than hatred. Love would eventually win. It would win over Deborah's parents. And it would win against Mr Howard's opposition to their relationship. Someday, somehow, love will definitely win.
Mr Howard - that father who did not hesitate to destroy his son's image only to separate him from his beloved. The day Mr Howard came to know that Maddox was in love with Deborah, he went to meet the young girl's parents to tell them that Maddox was a brute. He told them that he had even been to police cell for hitting a man who was none other than Angelica's dad. He said all this with the intention of separating the two young lovers. To some extent, he was successful because even after years, Deborah's parents were still against their relationship. Maddox and Deborah had maintained their love story secretly with Angelica's support. Angelica was the one who helped them get in touch with each other again after the Franklins had forbidden Maddox from speaking to their daughter.
Five years went by in a blink, Maddox was awaiting his graduation ceremony for the degree he had just completed. He would soon be officially qualified as software engineer. A dream coming true. As for the two young girls, they were to graduate that same year but in the marketing field which they believed might bring them a job in a time where their country was facing its highest level of unemployment.
"My heart literally aches to see her put on that smile when her eyes are clearly giving her away. She doesn't deserve these pains," Maddox said as he watched Angelica walk away, her shoulders curved downwards under the burden she was holding. The three of them had been sitting at the food court of a newly opened mall for an hour, eating lunch. Or perhaps talking more than eating. Angelica was again going through one of his father's tantrums and to add to that, she had just learnt that her boyfriend of two years was cheating on her.
Deborah's eyes were stuck on Maddox's face as he was talking. Talking about that girl who was a close friend to both of them. As Angelica disappeared, Maddox turned back to face his girlfriend who had a weird look on her face. It was not the sad look that she was supposed to wear. It was something else. Something Maddox did not want to admit. Yet, that look painted her face from time to time. More precisely, when Angelica was around or being mentioned. Or even more precisely, when Maddox would be nice to her or would say something nice about her.
No it can't be that she is jealous. Why will she be? Angel is her best friend after all. She has always been her friend. Even before she got to know me.
"So, Maddox? Where do we go now?" Deborah asked, her face suddenly switching back to the usual cheerful and all-smiling one.
"My lady love, didn't you say earlier that you are tired and that you want to go home after lunch?"
"Yes. I did. But now I feel better. Can we go to the movies?"
Maddox knew why she was suddenly feeling better unlike a few minutes back when Angel was around. He knew it. He understood everything. Yet, he pretended he didn't. Because he did not want to end up in another argument which was quite common for them. He would do anything to save their bond.

Maddox and Deborah always knew that someday they would either have to coax their parents for them to get married, or, they would simply have to get married without their consent. Despite several trials, Deborah's mum and dad never relented. Nor did her elder sister. As time flew by, it seemed nearly impossible to get their consent. As for Mr Howard, Maddox did not even care to have his consent. Because he knew that his father was the one who had sown the seeds of bitterness in the Franklins' hearts. He knew his father's ego was too strong to ever agree to their relationship. Maddox only had his stepmom's consent. That was enough for him. He also knew that had his mum been alive, she would also have no objection to their relationship. Because she never opposed anything good. She would never weigh love with wealth or status like his father did.
From time to time, the young love birds would discuss about their next step. A step to take their relationship further, now that they were more mature and on the verge of turning from students to working people! They thought that as they matured, Mr and Mrs Franklin would trust their decision. But this was not the case.
Maddox and Deborah finally knew that the only way to bond into marriage was to do so against their parents' will. They made up their minds. That one day, they will both fly away. They would fly to a foreign land under the pretext of seeking a job especially that jobs were scarce in their country. This would be their chance to be united and they would no more have to play hide and seek with people so as to keep their relationship hidden.
They had their plans. And God had His. And as commonly said, God is the best of planners.

I'm sorry for the "not too good" quality of this chapter. I just wrote what came to my mind without editing. I just thought that the story has to go on. It has to! So, please bear with me. And try to appreciate the storyline even if my words may not be perfect at this moment.
I promise a great ending to this story. Don't forget, it is based on a real life story. For now, bye bye.
To my mauritian readers, take great care. This cyclone seems dangerous!
