Chatter filled the air, along with the noise of forks and knives scraping plates for the last morsel of food. Everyone was starting to wonder if the three demigods that left for a quest a while ago, were ever going to come back. I stared down at my plate and wondered if they had saved Hera. Annabeth had told me this morning that three demigods had left on a quest and they still hadn’t returned. They were supposed to save Hera, who had been kidnapped, and stop an evil king from rising, but I was starting to get an uneasy feeling, like something had gone wrong.

Frowning I shoved more breakfast into my mouth and was about to dwell on this weird feeling some more when Hannah ran into the pavilion. Normally I wouldn’t have paid any attention to this, she had done it before, but the look on her face made me pause. Panic was etched across every feature of her face, morphing it into something terrifying. I wasn’t the only one that noticed this, a few campers looked up and Annabeth started to walk towards her. Hannah impatiently brushed Annabeth aside and ran towards Chiron who was staring at her in curiosity. Seconds later they both ran out of the pavilion, Chiron now looked worried and confused.

Shoveling more food into my mouth I turned to Annabeth, who had just returned, and asked, “What was that about?”

Her stormy eyes were troubled as she replied, “I don’t know, but I want to find out.”

Most of the campers throughout the day talked about what happened that morning when Hannah ran in, but most assumed she had discovered another new weird power over water. Chiron wasn’t seen the rest of the day and neither was Hannah or Rachel. Only at about sunset did they reappear at dinner. Everyone still seemed worried about the campers that were still gone and so when all of the sudden mist started to swirl around the Aphrodite table campers glanced at each other nervously. But to our surprise three bodies took form and soon three demigods were standing on the table one of them had their foot in someone’s pizza.

Two of them were guys, a tall blonde with sharp features, and a short dark tanned guy with almost elfish features and a face full of mischief. The other was a girl with long brown hair, she was beautiful and she looked worried. The shorter boy was looking nauseas so it didn’t surprise me when he ran over to a bronze brazier and threw up in it, earning a few winces from the crowd. Chiron gazed up at them and trotted forward asking, “Jason? What- How?”

The girl just grimaced at him and said, “Hi. We’re back.”

Once Jason, Piper, and Leo had finished their story my brain swirled with all of the information. I now knew I was right, Gaea was definitely trying to stop death and take over. After they were done answering questions and they had gone to bed I glanced at Rachel and her eyes widened as she motioned for me to follow her. Ducking around a few people I watched her go down to where the lake was, and sighing I followed. Right as I reached her she started to talk. “You can’t go anywhere out of camp. I know that the prophecy said that you were going to help her, so we can’t allow her to get a chance to get you.”

I crossed my arms and looked at her for a moment before saying, “I’m going to save Percy, prophecy or not.”

Rachel copied me and we stood face to face both of our arms crossed and we were both glaring at each other. “No.”

“Yes.”

“No.”

“You aren’t in control of me.”

“No but I can get Chiron.”

“I will get out of here and help.”

“Not when you could fulfill the prophecy.”
