The car we were in bumped us around making us hit each other as we sped over the many hills between us and the city. I glanced at the others in the car, all of them except Chiron as nervous as me. Tyler seemed utterly confused though, he had been to camp for a day and already he was on a quest. I frowned bewildered as to why he of all demigods was chosen. Jake however wasn’t confused in the slightest, like me he was listening to music, but he was staring at the floor as if mesmerized. Chiron simply was sitting in his wheelchair serenely reading a book. All of us were all dressed like we were going to a prom, which in this particular quest we were. I was wearing a strapless teal dress that stopped right before my knee, my hair was curled, and I was actually wearing make-up, which made all of the other campers tease me before we left. The boys were simply dressed in tuxes with their hair combed, lucky ducks.

Sighing I turned my attention back to the road and what we were driving by. We were no longer passing beautiful scenery and rolling hills by camp, but now were driving into a town not as busy as I suspected but enough to make you yearn for the serenity of the water by my cabin. I’ve only been gone for half an hour and already I’m homesick. Great, that’s a fantastic sign. While I was busy wallowing in my self-pity, everyone else was getting out of the car, we had arrived. Jake had to call for me before I snapped out of it and hastily unbuckled my seat belt, tearing myself out of the car.

I gazed up at the front entrance of this private academy, completely taken aback at the size of it. The building was easily taller than any other on the block and it was a beautiful black marble and dark wood. I expect they were trying to make it look, majestic and welcoming when really it was intimidating. Jake looked at me and breathed, “Woah. Let’s do this.” I meekly nodded and trailed behind him as Tyler gazed open mouthed at the school.

I rolled my eyes at him and hissed, “Tyler come on. If you can’t keep up, just stay in the car!” I glared at him and he flushed while I huffed and walked on.

When I caught up with him Jake gave me a disapproving look, “Can’t you just be nice?” I glared back at him and he just sighed. “Let’s just get this over with before you bite his head off.” As he walked ahead of me I glared at his back until Tyler came up and tentatively tapped my shoulder. I shook his hand off and marched forward determined to get through the night alive.

Once we reached the entrance hall immediately we were bombarded by teachers demanding where we had been. “You were supposed to be in the gym by seven! It’s nearly eight what were you doing?”

I walked up to her confidently and stated, “Sorry the traffic was terrible, we went out to eat before and got caught up, I’m so sorry.”

She eyed me suspiciously and I stared back confidently. Just then, Chiron wheeled up and asked, “Do we have a problem here? I’m one of the chaperones, I apologize on their behalf, we didn’t mean to be late did they tell you how bad the traffic was?” Curtly the teacher nodded and walked off, us trailing behind. Soon we reached the gym and instantly we all spread out looking for the twins we came for. I was especially worried about this particular quest because the twins were rumored to be Ares’ kids, people I never got along with. After only five minutes of searching I was surrounded by girls.

They all were whispering and pointing at my clothes, until a tall blonde had the guts to ask me about it. “Where did you get that dress? It’s so hideous I’m about to die!”

I smirked; I knew she was just mad at me because ever since I walked in for some reason all of the guys kept staring at me. She was just jealous I was getting strange looks, something I wasn’t used to. “Oh hideous is it? Then you should be wearing it then your face would actually match something.”
