*Beep Beep Beep Beep*
I turned my head toward my night stand. My alarm clock read “6:20”. Yay, another week of school. At least there was the Magic Mondays video to look forward too. I turned off my alarm and threw off my nice warm blanket. I climbed out of bed and ran through my morning routine. Check my phone, eat breakfast, get dressed, brush my teeth, and do my hair. I finished putting my hair up and just stood there looking at myself in the mirror. That’s boring old me. Long brown hair that I always pull back and clip up, T-shirt and jeans, my favorite pink sweatshirt, braces, no makeup, my key necklace hanging from my neck. That’s me. I’m the freshman known as Caitlin. I look down and finger with my key. I’ve been a keyper since day one and I will always proudly wear this key. Every single day.
My mom called me from downstairs “Caitlin! You better hurry up or you’ll miss the bus!” I glance up at the clock, it’s 7:00. Time to leave for school. I put on my coat, grab my backpack, and walk to the end of my driveway to wait for the bus. The bus comes, I’m brought to school, and my boring day of school begins.
My first hour is Science Olympiad, one of my favorite classes of the year. Science is my sport, I’m a nerd, not a sporty person. Second hour is media. It’s an ok class, really easy, we make videos all the time which is kinda fun. This was also the hour when the announcements came on. Today’s was about Valentines day. “Students, since it’s the week before Valentines day Mrs. Ayers 3rd hour class will be selling flowers to give to your special someone on Valentines day next week,”. Oh joy, I had completely forgot about Valentines day. Well, I won’t be getting any flowers, I don’t have any special someone. At least not anyone that lives here in Michigan…
Valentines day this year should be interesting with Collins, I wonder what he’ll do that day?? Will he do something special for all his keypers?
Third hour is computers. I absolutely hate that class. The teacher isn’t the best and we have this stupid sustainability project that nobody cares about. After third hour I have lunch with my friends. Lunch is always the highlight of my day. It’s almost the only time I get to see my friends. We have no classes together (that’s the main reason why my day is so boring).
Fourth hour I have art. Art is my favorite class. I’ve always had a thing for art and specifically drawing. I’ve always liked it and (not to brag but) seemed to be pretty good at it. Right now we’re working on a free hand drawing, and we got to choose who or what we draw. I chose a picture of Collins, the picture where he’s making a card float. Personally, I think it’s turning out pretty good so far. The fingers and the face are a little difficult, but I’m loving the project.
After art class, I have geometry. I hate geometry so much. Maybe even more than computers class. It’s so boring, and it doesn’t help that none of my friends are in the class. I tested out of 9th grade math so I could take this class. All I do the whole hour is dream about Collins Key. That’s all I find interesting in this class. Sometimes I dream about him just walking into the room looking for me, other times it’s about being boyfriend and girlfriend. But somehow around all that dreaming I still manage to pay attention during class. Today I walked in and sat down, ready for another hour of dreaming about Collins.
“How would you find the height of this triangle when you only know the base and the angle? With a trig ratio,” started my teacher.
I started zoning out and doodling on my notes. I’d much rather dream about Collins than learn about trig ratios.
I glanced up at the door, Collins walked in the room. He glanced around looking confused for a brief moment. Then he spotted me and smiled.
“This part is called the apothem,”
I snapped back into reality. I don’t want to miss something too important, or I might not know how to do anything for this lesson. The minutes slowly ticked by. Soon enough it was 2:38 and I finally got to leave. I had homework in geometry as always. I always seemed to have homework in that class when there was a video to wait for. I spent the bus ride listening to music and daydreaming some more.
I took a break from looking out the window and glanced up in the isle. Collins came walking down looking for a seat. He had his hood up so it was almost difficult to recognize him. He asked if he could sit next to me. Of course I said yes, I never say no to anyone given there is no room on this bus. He sat down next to me all calm. He looked over at me and gave a half smile. I just sat there looking into his blue eyes.
Again I snapped back into reality. I looked out the window and started gently rocking my head back and forth to the song I was listening to. More and more people filed off and eventually it was my stop. I gathered my stuff, got off, and walked home. I walked in the front door and threw my backpack down in front of the couch. Immediately I turned the wifi on on my phone and checked to see what I missed on twitter. Lots of notifications popped up on my screen, the last one was a tweet from Collins
@CollinsKey: New video is up! There’s a second part to magic for youtubers, whatttt???
I clicked the link and sat down on the couch to watch the video. After watching Collins do some sweet tricks, I liked the video and pulled out my geometry homework.
When I got about half way done with the front side of the page, a new notification popped up on my phone screen. Another tweet from Collins
@CollinsKey: Tweet spree???
I quickly commented
@carrollc17: Heck ya! Bring on the tweet spree!!!
I finished the front side of the worksheet and Collins had started his tweet spree. I tweeted many many many times. None of them got a response, like always. I carried on with my homework and continued to be distracted by twitter. Even though the tweet spree was over, I still held on to the hope that Collins might actually reply to one of my tweets. Or maybe DM me and have a conversation with me. But none of that ever happens.
Before I knew it, it was time for me to get in bed. I brushed my teeth, changed into my pajamas, and tweeted Collins good night. I climbed into bed not looking forward to another boring day of school with no video to look forward to.
