My senses were overloaded. I could only think of one thing: Blood. It was everywhere. It filled my vision, it was all I smelled, all I was touching. The worst part, most of it was not even mine. It was my family's. The man carrying me was holding me tightly; too tightly.
"The Alpha will be pleased with you." he snarled with a sickening smirk. I was terrified. I looked behind me back at my now burning home, my father's pained face burned into my memory as he lay motionless in the doorway covered in his own blood. My mother lay farther back in the hall between the door and my brother's, Nick's, and my rooms. I remember seeing him telling me to run as he ran to help my parents but I followed him and the man that has me now grabbed me before I could see him. The man's face scared me, the evil glint in his eye and the scars running vertically on the right side of his face looked jagged, as if they were rips in his skin rather than cuts.
Shoving me in the back of a black SUV, he held me down and told the driver to go. I could smell the stench of acrid smoke from behind me. Tears streamed down my face mixing with blood and soot. The scarred man leaned closer to me and smelled my neck making me paralyzed. Snaking his hand around my shoulder, he lightly traced my skin. Giving me a repulsive smile, he opened his mouth showing sharpened teeth.
"And just to make sure you know who's in control, little one," he trailed off. I suddenly felt his claw-like nails break my skin, a scream erupting from my throat. His smirk turned into a full blown smile.
Swiftly, the car turned over and rolled throwing all of us inside around like we were in a washing machine. When we stopped the car was on its side and the top door was ripped open. I could see a silhouette of a man in the light cast off by the moon. He aimed a gun at my head and I coward backwards. He took notice and cocked his head to the side. He reached in before I could scoot away from him and grabbed my arm, yanking me out of the flipped car. Before I was fully out of the car, the scarred man's hand reached out to grab me but pain flared from my torso earning another deafening scream from me. I heard a gunshot and was laid on the grass, the other man hovering over me pushing pressure on me causing more pain as I continued sobbing. I could hear him yelling but could not make out what he was saying. Darkness threatened to take me away and I let it.
