Jackelynn POV
I ran over to where Lucas told me to meet him. He texted me there was a rogue sighting and we needed to deal with it. Walking up to him, he started to explain the details on our way to the woods in the back of the school. I grabbed my gun from my bag. There were three wolves snarling at Jared and Ethan, Mason's next two in command. I hid behind a bush and readied my gun in case anything would go south.
"You are on Red Moon territory. What is your business here?" Yelled out Jared. The wolves just snarled at him which made his eyes go black. Both Jared and Ethan shifted showing their wolves. Jared's being slightly bigger and a darker brown than Ethan's.
Mason walked over to the scene and his eyes were dark, power laced his voice causing a shiver to run down my spine. His eyes faltered over to my hiding spot but the rogue that he had been talking to lunged at him, using his distraction. My hand reacted on instinct and I fired a silver bullet at the attacking rogue, hitting him in the heart. The whole group looked stunned. Mason recovered and ordered the other rogues off his land, the authority leaking through resulting in another shiver from me. I never had this reaction to any other Alpha I encountered, so why was my body reacting like this to him.
The rogue disrespected him by growling and he gave the signal for Jared and Ethan to kill the rogues. Mason slowly started walking over to me but I could see Lucas on the other side throw something in the distance to distract them. Using the diversion, I quickly ran up to the school, careful to stay hidden. I shoved my weapon back into the inner pocket of my leather jacket and started off for my third period class.
As the bell rang, students filed into their classes. I sat down in my seat in the back. Mason walked in with Ethan, looking distracted. When Mason and my eyes met I smiled at him.
"Hey, Lucas ok?" Mason asked me. A look of confusion crossed over my face. "You said he had a headache or something..." He trailed off. That was the excuse I gave to go help with the rogues.
"Oh! Ya, he's fine. He's used to them, they're just inconvenient." I explained quickly. He looked hesitant but accepted my excuse.
"You're Jackelynn, right? I'm Ethan." Ethan introduced himself to me, holding out his hand.
"Yup," I said popping the 'p' and shaking his hand, "That's me."
"Are you coming to my party tonight? It's going to be sick!" He asked animatedly.
"I already asked, she can come." Mason answered for me, smiling proudly. His smile becoming infectious and caused me to smile back. Ethan's face lit up and he fist pumped the air.
"Sweet!" he exploded. "Bring your bikini, we just opened the pool and the water feels amazing!" My face faltered. If I wear a bikini then my body will be on full display, showing off the deep scar across my entire torso.
"Um, I don't think I have any swim suits unpacked yet. I'll probably just swim in some shorts or something." I quickly thought of an excuse. Mason's eyes watched me carefully, their stare boring into my face. I kept my eyes on Ethan.
'Oh, no big deal. It's still going to be fun!" He said bubbly. I smiled a small grin at him as the teacher came in the classroom. His greying hair combed back and his beady eyes peering over his thin glasses.
