Only Just Getting Started (Adopted by Shisa)

Chapter 14

Lisa lightly shakes me to wake me up.

"C'mon sweetie, we have to take Shane to the airport"

I groan and roll over. I grab my phone and check the time. 5:30am. Why did he have to go on such an early flight? I'm sure there was a later option. I slowly get up and get changed. I grab some toast and then clean my teeth. I sit down on the couch with Corny and start my vlog.

"Good morning guys. It is currently about 6am and we are just about to go and take Shane to the airport because he's going away for a few days and I'm struggling to stay awake. 6:00 is seriously way too early. Why do people get up this early by choice? Anyway, I'm gonna go get in the car and probably take a nap on the way to the airport, I'll see you guys there"

I stop recording and shove my camera in my pocket. I stroke Corny who falls asleep in a couple of minutes. Lucky her. Shane and Lisa come out of the bedroom and we head out to the car. Me and Lisa jump in while Shane loads up his suitcase then we drive off. Shortly after we leave, I feel my eyelids getting heavier and before I know it I'm being shaken awake by Lisa again.

"Let's go sleepyhead"

I rub my eyes and climb out of the car. We walk into the airport and Shane checks in. I vlog a bit on the way to the gate. I wanted Shane to be in the video before he left.

"Shane! Turn around and say goodbye to my amazing viewers. They're not going to see you for a few days"

Shane turns around slowly and immediately starts showing off by singing straight into the camera.

"Goodbye my lovers, goodbye my friends"

"Oh my god. There you go guys a farewell that many of you could only dream of"

I turn the camera off and we arrive at the gate. All too soon Shane's flight is called. We all get up and he gives me a big hug.

"I'm gonna miss you" I whisper.

"I'll miss you too"

He kisses the top of my head and we break apart. He pulls Lisa close to him and they share a long kiss. Then he wraps his arms around her and they stay there until probably half the plane has boarded. They kiss again and Shane starts walking down the tunnel towards the plane. Just as he is about to disappear he turns back and waves to us. We wave back and then sit down on the chairs. We watch as the last few people go down the tunnel and then we watch his plane taxi out to the runway and take off.

By the time me and Lisa leave the airport it is almost 8:30. We decide to spend the day at the mall. It takes about 45 minutes to drive there since there's a lot of traffic. We just listen to whatever comes on the radio and chat. Eventually we arrive and go to look around at some shops. At around 12:30 we go to the food court for lunch. We decide to get Subway. After lunch we look in the gaming store but I can’t afford anything yet. I have a couple of weeks of chores before I’ll be able to buy anything but I still enjoy having a look. At about 3:00 we are both ready to go home because we are tired thanks to the early morning. About half an hour after we get home Shane texts Lisa and asks if we are free to jump on Skype. We both go to the office and pull up a chair each at Lisa’s desk. The three of us chat for a while then Lisa leaves me alone with Shane and tells me to let her know when I’m done talking. Shane and I end up talking for about 45 minutes to an hour when I pull out my camera and do a little clip for my vlog. I decide to just end it there because me and Lisa weren’t planning on doing anything else for the rest of the day. After I finish my vlog I talk to Shane for a bit longer then say goodbye to him and call out to Lisa. She brings Corny in and Shane says hi to her. Then I grab my laptop and take Corny out to the lounge room so I can edit and also so that Shane and Lisa can talk alone. 

By the time Lisa comes out of the office I have finished editing and my video is almost uploaded. I have also started watching an old episode of Cupcake Wars.

“I knew he was gonna get you hooked on that show”

“I like it”

“You really remind me so much of Shane sometimes”

“Well I have seen most of his videos. One time I was sick for a couple of days and literally just lay in bed and watched about a year or more worth of his vlogs”

“Wow. That orphanage must have been really boring”

We both laugh and I promise not to tell Shane that she said that. 

That night we don’t really do anything and we both go to bed super early. As I’m climbing into bed my phone goes off with a text from Shane.

Goodnight Charlie have a good sleep. I miss you :)

Night Shane miss you too :)

I lock my phone and fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow.
