My boots sloshed through the water as I continued my trek to my apartment. Then I felt a cold wind against my back and my hair blew around my face. I suddenly felt as though someone was watching me.

I picked up the pace and ducked my head, listening to hear if there were any footsteps behind me.

I heard nothing but the pitter patter of the rain around me. I continued walking, but I could not shake the uneasiness I felt and my body was stiff just as I rounded the corner to my apartment complex.

There was a sudden whoosh and I gasped when a mysterious figure appeared in front of me out of nowhere. I stumbled back and looked at the person who stood in front of me.

"Who are you?" I spat. The figure was wearing a hooded cloak so that the only things I could see were their devilish red eyes and their shiny black shoes.

"My dear Renee, you don't remember me?"

The mysterious figure was a man. His deep, tantalizing voice made my blood run cold. Before I could blink, my fear was replaced with anger, anger that heated my body and bounced around my skin. I had never seen this man in my life. If I had, I would have already painted the floor with his blood.

"If I did, I would know. The red eyes would give you away." I said to him. The man laughed and reached up to take of his hood.  Long, cascading, black hair tumbled down his shoulders and I stood in awe at his other-worldly, aesthetic features.

I wiped a bit of drool from the side of my open mouth when he looked at me with a bit of amusement.

"Who-what are you?" I said nearly speechless. I couldn't take my gaze away from his eyes. They were a rich amber, so rich that the color reminded me of someone I had previously known. Someone very dangerous yet so beautiful.

"Don't you know?" He asked, his dark brows furrowing as he feigned confusion. I could tell by the way his lips twitched at the edge of his lips, as if he was debating whether or not to laugh.

"I'd have guessed you have associated with demons before...if associated is the right word."

I felt  the blood rush to my cheeks and bit my lip. So he was a demon? No wonder his eyes looked so...golden. But how did he know about my past....affairs with Camur? Maybe he was sent by that stupid demon to convince me to go back to him.

Well if he was sent by Camur, no matter how appealing he was, I was not giving into his lies.

"Don't worry about me being connected to Camur. It is irrefutable that if he and I were in the same room, we would no doubt kill each other." the beautiful man said, a teasing smile forming on his lips.

For the first time in a long time, I had finally met someone who hated the demon as much as I.

"Same here, only I would be the one walking out of the room alive." I said to him. The man laughed. It was eery sound that made the hair on my arm stand on end.

"But if your not here because of Camur, then what are you here for? And why haven't you told me your name?"

"My name is Axel Ryce. I am here to recruit you for something I think might interest you." he said to me. "And what if it doesn't?" I asked him raising a brow. The rain was letting up now and sooner or later I would be able to use my fire if he tried anything.

"If it doesn't, then you'll have to do it anyway." Axel replied, a smug smile still on his face. I took a step back and opened my hand to welcome a small flame.

The familiar tingling in my hand calmed and knowing I had some form of defense against the demon in front of me calmed some of my nerves.

"Try me and see what happens." I threatened.

Axel laughed again and in a whisp of black smoke he was gone. His fear-inducing voice was all around me as he said,  "Renee...you can't possibly fight a demon as powerful as I. You can try, but I would seduce and poison you before you could."

My heart banged against my chest and a sudden feeling of fear overcame my body when Axel stood an inch from me. His hand cupped my own and my weak flame was snuffed out immediately.

"You can't force me to do anything." I croaked as he drew his right thumb over my lips and chin. "You doubt me? Perhaps I will have to demonstrate my powers for you...such as the fact that i have an intoxicating kiss."

With that his soft, demanding lips met mine and I felt myself melt from the inside out. If Axel wasn't gripping my back tightly, I would have no doubt fallen on the wet ground. I almost gave in to his kiss until a weird sensation filled my mouth and I suddenly felt weak and disoriented.

I tried to push away but Axel just chuckled and held me closer. The way he laughed aroused me and terrified me at the same time. He pulled away and dipped me down until my body touched the ground. My lips were chapped and my skin was a sickening gray color.

"What did you do to me?" I rasped, my eyes meeting Axel's. "Pardon my not telling that I meant what I said in the most literal way possible." he said letting another laugh escape his lips.

He poisoned me. His kiss was poisonous! How did I not predict that? Probably because you were to busy enjoying the feeling of having your mouth sucked from your face my internal voice said.

"You killed me?" I asked seeing white appear around the edges of my vision. Axel smiled, "As if I would waste the opportunity to make a partner of you. Cara Mia, You are only going to sleep for a little while. When you wake up I can do all the naughty things I intend to do with you." he said making my stomach lurch.

"You touch me, you die." I spat at him mustering all the energy I could to glare in his direction. "We'll see about that." Axel said as my eyes closed. "Sleep now mon amour." he whispered as the darkness consumed me.
