The Headquarters

"Welcome to the Headquarters!", Sir Samuel said as we walked towards the building that he called headquarters.

As we reached the door to the building, he stood for a while in front of it as if waiting for something. We heard a slow whirring sound then a small box appeared near the knob. Prof Samuel placed his hand on what seemed like a scanner.

"Access Granted", a mechanical voice said. Samuel H. That was what was written as his face is displayed on the scanner.

The door opened and we entered the Headquarters for the first time. A huge room lay down before us.

"Wow!", we all said.

The HQ looked like a small building on the outside because it is only showing the top floor of the building. Sinundan namin si Prof Samuel pababa nang hagdan.

"There on the right is the bunks, you can place your things there. Dito naman, as you can see is the kitchen and the dining room. My room is over there", turo niya sa isang door at the end of the hallway.

"How about down there, sir", I asked as I pointed the stairs going down.

"Ah, that's your classroom", he said. "You can rest for now. Tommorow, your lessons will start".

He went inside his room. There was another door before it but he did not say for what. Maybe he forgot. Umiling ako at pumasok sa room namin. Walang mattress na nakalagay sa beds unlike sa bunkhouse namin but it was still comfortable. I lay down my bed to rest and closed my eyes.

Take my hand, let's see where we wake up tommorow.

I opened my eyes. Everyone was still asleep. I got up. Lumabas ako nang room. I'm sure that was the same song na narinig ko sa library. I looked around.

And God, tell us the reason youth is wasted on the young.

Madilim sa labas. The kitchen and dining room was empty. Tiningnan ko ang room ni Sir Samuel. It was closed as well. I looked at the other one. The lights are on and the room is a bit open.

It's hunting season and the lambs are on the run.

Dahan-dahan akong naglakad papunta sa bukas na kwarto. The music gets louder as I get nearer to it. Kaya sigurado akong duon nagmumula ang kanta.

Searching for meaning, but are we all lost stars

Nasa harap na ako nang pinto. I slowly peeked at the small space on the nearly closed door.

Trying to light up the dark.

It was her! Orielle! Andito siya! I brushed my eyes just to make sure I am awake and not dreaming. I am so sure of it. The girl I am seeing inside the room is her. Her eyes are closed, sleeping. Nakahiga siya patagilid facing the door. She looked so peaceful. Angelic. I stood there, contented watching her sleep as the music played on.

Who are we? Just a speck of dust within the galaxy?
Woe is me, if not careful turns into reality.

It feels like forever na nandoon ako looking at her. I wished it would not end but I knew better than that. I took a look at her one more time and smiled before I closed the door completely. Everything felt lighter knowing I would still see her tomorrow. I went back to sleep with a smile.
