The Horrors Outside The Dome

Our second day of class. Hindi kami nabigo nang ipagpatuloy ni Prof Samuel ang naudlot niyang kwento.

"For two years, several attempts were made to reach the land, but all of them were unsuccessful. However, all the efforts were not in vain. Little by little, data were gathered and the mysteries were slowly revealed. The council learned their lesson and decided to halt the mission for a year to train the recruits the necessary skills needed to survive."

"Seven years ago, the first batch of trained rangers were sent to explore the land again. The result was something nobody expected for three reasons. First, the land is not a land anymore but a mini forest, the environment was suitable for human living you can take off your suit without suffering from radiation."

"Wow, how did that happen?", Cassius asked.

"That is something which is still a mystery until now. Nobody knows, we all just call it a miracle".

"And the second reason?" It was Alouette who popped the question.

"The second is that out of a hundred trained rangers sent, only two came back alive".

"No way! ", we all said unbelievably.

"Yes way!"

"What happened to the others? "

Sir Samuel just shrugged," They all died".

"How? ", Dash asked.

" Third reason", Sir answered. "It turned out, the dwellers of the forest does not like being disturbed."

" Dwellers? ", tanong ni Holden.

" Dwellers. Nakatira. Although we already have idea what they are at that time, still, that was the first time the rangers encountered and fought them in person."

We all looked at one another.

"Nobody knows what they really are, or where they come from. But for the the sake of giving them a name, we called them Dwellers."

"Are they like monsters?", Zinny asked.

"Yes".

"Aliens? "

" Yes, in the sense that we know so little about them. "

" Demons? "

" Yes, the devil reincarnate himself".

We all shuddered. "What if they were just like some ordinary animals who mutated due to radiation?", I asked.

"That is also possible. The most probable one." Sir Samuel went to his table,  got some papers and instructed Asher, who was seated on the first chair to the right to get one and pass.

"Now,  these papers includes informations about dwellers that we have gathered throughout the years."

I checked the papers that was passed to me. Kumunot ang noo ko nang makita ko ang mga drawings. There were four pages and each page showed different ones.

"Vipers", simula ni Sir. He was referring to the drawing on the first page na parang ahas. "These are the first dwellers discovered by the Rangers. As you can see on the drawing, pahaba sila with their length ranging from half to two meters. They're fast but the easiest to kill."

"Second, are the isopods." I turned to the second page and saw another drawing na parang ipis, except that mas marami itong paa. "They're slow but killing them is a challenge since it's outer body is made of a hard material including the head. You need to be precise and accurate when fighting with this one since it's only weak spot is it's neck."
