I waited impatiently by my car in front of The Grill.
My fingers drummed nervously on the pale hood of the volts wagon.
I brushed a shaky hand through my hair for the sixth time. I'm a wreck.
A vintage sports car parked next to mine.
He stepped out and came over to me.
"Nice car.", I commented.
"Thanks, I suppose you could say that I'm a collector."
He held the door and ushered me in.
"Thank you.", I ducked my head, praying to hide the blush.
We settled for a table in the back and waited for our waiter.
"Before we get to the assignments, I wanted to thank you."
"For what?", he asked.
"For saving me in class Monday. I tried to catch you after school, but you must of left early."
His brows arched as he shifted in his seat.
"It was my pleasure; I don't like the idea of a beautiful girl being a target for insult."
Beautiful?
I blushed pink at the sudden complement.
"Why were you out the past few days, if you don't mind if I ask."
"I was handling some family matters.", he answered simply.
"Hey guys, what can I did you?"
I looked up to find Matt smiling his normal smile.
"Hey Matt, I'll have my regular. Stefan?"
He tore his eyes away from me and briefly turned his attention to Matt.
"Black coffee, thank you."
"Okay two black coffees coming right up.", he went to the next table.
Stefan looked at me in disbelief.
I shyly grinned and took out my planner.
My phone went off causing me to flinch.
After checking the screen, I rolled my eyes before returning the phone to my pocket.
"Something wrong?"
"It's just my Aunt Sara, checking up on me. My parents passed away in a car wreck almost a year ago. After the funeral
I went to live live with Sara in Texas and now I'm back.", I spilled.Did I really just say all that to a guy I hardly know?
"I'm sorry, I know it's hard. My parents died when I was still a kid. I live with my Uncle now."
We already have something in common; unbelievable.
"Sorry, I had no idea. Any siblings?"
He slightly hesitated.
"None that I keep in touch with."
Before I could think of a response, Matt came back with our mugs.
"Thank you, Matt.", I stole a quick sip.
"No problem, let me know if you need anything."
"So...", he started once he was out of earshot.
"So..."
"What assignments am I missing?", he sheepishly grinned.
"Right. Um, the only thing you should really focus on now would be studying for the test on Monday."
1 hour later
"It's getting late, I should probably head home.", I reached into my bag for my wallet.
"I should be going too. I'll walk you to your car."
He put a five on the table and stood. If only more guys were like him.
I gathered my belongings and followed him out the door.
"Maybe we could do this again tomorrow?", he suggested hopefully.
"Yeah, that would be great. Same time?"
He nodded.
"Until then.", he kissed my hand and slipped away into the night.
