Gray woke up to the hazel eyes of yet another women, however this time his confusion was non- existent. He coughed up a buckets worth of water on to the sailboat before heavily hitting his head on the wood beneath him. As he did, a pair of custom brown sailor shoes came up near his head. Gray felt a tear form in his eyes. He was a grown man, however nothing had prepared him for that moment.
"Sirus," Gray cracked through his scarred throat.
"Let's sit him up men," he got in return.
Before he knew it several arms were around his body, pulling him up against a hay woven sac. His body muscles helped as much as they could up until he was looking at his entire crew. Which he quickly noticed wasn't his entire crew at all. Just three of them, Tessica, Sirus, and Leon. Then of course there was him. In fear Gray found himself searching frantically with his eyes.
"Gray calm down," the woman comforted as she came closer to him and rested a hand on his shoulder. Her freshly cut hair was poking out through the bottom of her grey beany. She looked so different then he had remember. How long had it been?
"He doesn't remember?" the black haired man named Leon spoke out.
Gray looked at him with wide eyes yet still found himself saying nothing. Upon noticing the bald member of the group began walking towards him. His brown eyes seemed angry yet concerned as he stood in front of Gray with his arms crossed; a barely visible tattoo of a sea dragon making it's appearance.
"Of course he remembers, right sailor?"
Gray could easily remember is crew. He remembered Tessica as the ships much needed counselor, Leon as the cook, and Sirus as the captains right hand man. But, he could also collect in his thoughts the other twenty men that were not with them on the tiny sailboat they now inherited. His head shook with frustration.
"Where is Cayde?" he spit out.
When Tessica took another step forward, he came to a conclusion no one ever wanted to come to and never would.
"The Sirens," Leon said coldly as he began to remove his sweat stained shirt revealing his envy inducing six pack.
"Leon!" Tessica snapped, moving nothing but a finger.
"Now guys," Sirus broke in angrily, through his teeth. "There are no such things!"
Gray found the strength in him to stand up, meeting Sirus at eye level. Tessica urgently jumped out of the way without a gasp as Gray walked closer to him. Fear took over as well as slight embarrassment as he shook anxiously.
"They exist," he cleared up.
Laughing Sirus turned his head and started off to the other end up the boat where a hammock was set up. Gray finally clued in that it was night time, the stars in the sky lighting up his fellow shipmates just enough to recognize the situation. The night drew in an almost eerie atmosphere. So, while vexation began to swim through is blood stream, so did the undeniable sense of dread.
"I saw them, I saw something," Gray spat trying to get Sirus to turn around.
"Don't worry about it Gray. If we think its a Siren and he thinks it's a shark, there is no difference. We still fight for out lives with the same desperation now," Tessica told him.
He looked at Sirus who was now getting himself ready for the night ahead of them. Looking back at Tessica he held on to his urge to scream once again at Sirus, begging him to just listen. He knew what was out there, he knew what he went through.
"Leon heads under is about twelve," Tessica informed him. "I need to know what is truly out there and you need to know the truth about your best friend."
