Dad wasn't very happy today. He didn't leave the house for work, he just stayed inside mom's room. Mom wasn't here today, or yesterday. No, she was in New York. She was visiting a big tower, with an identical twin. Dad says she's coming home soon, but I think he isn't sure. Today he picked me up from school instead of Mom, and my third grade teacher, Ms. Tally asked why. He whispered something in her ear and she started to cry. I didn't know grownups cry. I saw Dad pick up the phone, and he asked how his wife was. Then he started to cry... He told me to write what day it was inside my journal, it's September 11th, 2001.
Dad ordered the normal pancake with cheese and bacon and a fat free smoothie on the side,"Your mother would be so proud of you girls." He said, once he said this Kayla finally looked up at him. With the opportunity Ariana snatched the phone from her hands. Kayla smiled a bit," Yeah she would." In that moment, Kayla's phone buzzed- a message. The younger girl rolled her eyes,"Your party." Kayla grabbed her bag,"Oh. I gotta go!" She took back her phone and left the restaurant before she received her order."Well more for me." Ariana laughed as her sister's platter was served,"More for us."
