Mark's P.O.V
I stood motionless on the paved ground, staring at Jessie's body laying on the road. Blood ran down the side of her mouth and a gash was found on her temple. Scrapes were found on her legs and arms. Andy ran towards Jessie's side. The driver of the truck came rushing out and took out his phone to call an ambulance. Alex ran to Jessie's body too-and he knelt down and began to sob. Andy grabbed Jessie in his arms and started rocking back and forth. I heard him whimper. I approached the two slowly. "Oh my god......." I said under my breath. Suddenly, I heard an ambulance's sirens faintly and lights shining from a distance. Then after a minute, the ambulance van stopped near us and men came rushing out with a med kit and a stretcher. They kneeled beside Jessie and told Andy to step aside. Andy obeyed and he squeezed Jessie's hand. He stepped aside as people carried her to the stretcher and rolled the stretcher in the back of the van. I watched as Jessie laid on the stretcher not saying a word or a whimper. Her eyes remained shut, not revealing her beautiful eyes. Alex stood beside as he watched the van head to the hospital.
"This-this is all my fault. It's my fault she's in the hospital." I said under my breath. I saw Andy looked at me, so he actually heard me.
"Mark......it isn't anyone's fault she got ran over. Don't blame yourself, buddy." he said. I scoffed at his response. He doesn't even seem mad anymore. "Let's go to the hospital, guys. Let's see if she's okay. But first I need to change, I'm soaking wet....thanks to Mark."

Andy, Alex and I reached the hospital. We rushed to the clerks desk and asked for the patient Jessie Sanders. The lady at the front desk said that the patient was at the east wing of the building. So we ran and asked many doctors what room Jessie was in, but they told us that she was in critical condition that she may not survive the night. Andy pushed one doctor and asked once more where she was. Alex tries calming him down, but Andy kept his grip on the doctor. The doctor made a worried face and he gave Andy the room number of Jessie's.
We entered the room hesitantly. I noticed Jessie laying motionless on the hospital bed not saying a word. Her face had no more blood but a few bruises on her jaw and temple. Her eyes kept shut and all we heard was the beeping of the heart monitor constantly. Andy gasped softly and scurried beside Jessie's side. "Jessie............" He whimpered as he grabbed her hand. "I'm so sorry............. I never wanted any of this to happen. This isn't any ones fault. Not Mark's or Alex's. Nobodie's." Alex stood on the other side of Jessie's. He had on a sorrow face and I knew he wanted to take the blame for her getting ran over. He could've stopped her from running. But, I'm the one who started this. I pushed Andy into his pool and he just grew angry because I always get mad at him for abandoning Jessie, now look what it lead to- Jessie in a critical condition in a fifty-fifty chance of surviving this night.
I stood at the foot of her bed. I watched her lay there not moving and making a peep from those lips that I've kissed. Oh how I wish to kiss her once more. "Jessie, I know you can't hear me but I just wanna let you know that I always loved you since that day we met back at Green Garden's Elementary School. I always thought that you were the girl of my dreams and I let my selflessness consume me- now look what it lead me to." I said as my voice cracked. Alex and Andy looked at me simultaneously.
"I knew you always had feelings for her, Mark. I just saw it through your actions when you were always near her.......I'm sorry." Andy said gently. "I know how you feel now when I'm taking her away from you."
I let a smile spread on my face now that Andy is apologizing to me. But, I just wish everything can go back to the way things were. Back when were really close friends, but now......you can't change the past. "Andy.....I'm sorry. I just let jealousy consume me that made me hate you for doing what you did years ago."
Andy nodded and suddenly a tear fell down his cheek. I never seen Andy cry before, not even when we were kids. "Yeah........I forgive you, buddy." He smiled and then he raised Jessie's hand and kissed it tenderly.
"I loved Jessie too. I even told her that I had feelings for her." Alex said breaking the silence. He looked at Andy. "Andy-what should I do? What should we do? All of us have feelings for Jessie too, but it won't work."
Andy sighed and he touched Jessie's forehead. "I guess we should just forget about it-and remain as friends and not fight over her."
So, all of us nodded and agreed that we won't become enemies again. We will never hurt each other just for a girl that we cared for a long time, but when we started chuckling as we became friends once more, Jessie's voice filled the air.
