SCOTT'S POV
We're halfway through with touring, and despite how exhausting it is I love it so much! We've basically mastered our set by now, so it isn't stressful at all. We can relax and sing without worrying about hitting the right notes.
What's stressing me out though is working on our first original album. We aim to release it by the end of this year and it's March already! Writing is daunting for me since it's not how I prefer to communicate or express myself. I'm much more of a face-time or phone call kind of guy over texting. I hate long and unnecessary texts when the same thing can be said in person or over the phone. I feel like writing is so much harder for me than anyone else in the band.
Thank god for Kevin. If it wasn't for him, we wouldn't have made much progress with the original album.
Kevin has written two songs with Kirstie called "Water" and "Take Me Home". I'm really happy with them, especially Take Me Home. I can totally see us singing Take Me Home for private performance during our next tour in 2016. I've been working with Kevin on writing an upbeat breakup song too, we've finished writing most of it and decided to call it "Ref".
Over the next few days, Avi and I have decided to write together again. I know I won't have writer's block when I write with him. Cracked basically wrote itself a month ago when Avi and I sat down to write it. Plus, that would mean spending more one-on-one time with Avi...
I've accepted that I'm harboring an inappropriate crush on Avi, but it's harmless since I'm not actually going to act upon it. He's as straight as they come. I'm sure if there were cute gay guys around me I'd get over this crush, but meeting guys is not really a possibility with our grueling tour schedule, writing and recording sessions.

"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh" I tried to hit my lowest note backstage with Avi minutes before our Wallingford show.
Avi laughed and hummed a lower note. I rolled my eyes at him. "Show off much?"
"Low notes are kinda my thing" Avi smirked. "But that was great, you're definitely going to kill the bass line for Standing By".
"Ugh I hope so, especially tonight". Tonight is our first show ever that is going to broadcasted as a livestream, so that means fans all over the world will watch us perform.
"If it makes you feel better, I'll go over it once more with you?" Avi smiled kindly.
"Yeah, let's do that. You start and I'll try to match your note".
Avi started humming a low note and I matched it with ease. Then he suddenly dropped a few octaves lower, surprising me. I could feel his voice vibrating in my chest. Avi moved his hand in a hurried motion, gesturing for me to follow. I opened my mouth to try and match his note, but embarrassingly enough I let out a loud burp, eliciting glares from Kirstie, Mitch and Genevieve. I covered my mouth sheepishly while Avi laughed.
"Burping the baseline for Standing By would be a creative way of doing it".
"You asshole, that note was too low for the baseline in Standing By", I laughed, smacking his arm lightly.
"I know, I just wanted to see if you could hit E1".
"I'm a baritone, I'm not supposed to be able to hit E1! But on a good day I can hit G1". My expansive vocal range is something I'm quite proud of.
"Wow, really? I'd love to hear that someday", Avi responded looking impressed .
Just then Esther rushed in. "Ready for the show and your first livestream, guys?"
"Ugh I'm nervous".
"Don't be", Avi smiled at me, giving my hand a squeeze. Mitch looked at our hands and raised his eyebrows, smirking at me while he adjusted his in-ears.
Oh no, Mitch knows something's up. It's hard for me to hide anything from Mitch since he's so perceptive.
We stood backstage, hearing our fans screaming. After we got a prompt in our in-ears, we sang our intro before walking onto the stage.
A.N. Thank y'all so much for 1K reads! I honestly didn't think I'd get these many reads with my sporadic updating schedule. There will be another chapter this weekend in celebration of 1K (and also because I actually have a few days off for once)! 😅
