KATRINA

I stormed into the building. A receptionist sitting at a large desk stood as I entered, claiming I could not be here. I held up a hand to silence her and stomped my way over to the stairs. I took them two at a time until I made it to the floor I needed. The stairway opened up into a long hallway, and I turned right and walked to the last door at the end. I threw the door opened at walked in.

Dev looked up from his work on his computer and smiled at me. “Why isn’t this a lovely surprise.”

“How dare you?” I screamed, storming to his desk.
Dev looked taken aback. “I thought you would be pleased.”
“Pleased? You think I... would be pleased?”
“Well... I almost eradicated your nemesis, and I severely injured her protector. Now she is vulnerable. You can finish the job.”
“This was my job! I had it under control. You could’ve ruined everything! I didn’t need or want him hurt!”
“..... Why wouldn’t you want him hurt,” Dev said quietly, “Now you can take her out.” I sank into the large leather chair in front of his desk, remaining quiet. Dev spoke up, “Ahhhh. You love him? Don’t you?”
“I......Uhmm...I think I might.”
Dev stood up, slamming his hands down onto the desk. “You cannot love him! I thought I told you to stay away from him!”
“Why, Dev!? Why do you want me to stay away from him so badly? Hmmm. Are you jealous or something? ‘Cause you of all people should understand that I can never be with him anyways. Why is it bothering you so much.”
“Stay away from him or else, Katrina.”
I crossed my arms and slowly smiled at him, “No.”
“KATRINA!”
“Dev?”
I could tell he was seething with anger. His red eyes seemed to be on fire. At that moment, a set of bright red horns and a long tail sprung out of Dev, and he set a growl my way. “Katrina. I swear, with all the power of hell, if you so much as go near that boy. I’ll...”
“You’ll what,” I snapped snottily.

A large red pitchfork appeared in his hands, and he threw it flying across the desk at me. I dodged it, missing me by only an inch. It hit a filing cabinet behind me and the cabinet exploded in flames. I looked at Dev shocked. Then I realized, he was no longer the Dev I knew but a cruel vicious animal, satan. I tried to slowly back out of the room; I knew what he was capable when he was like this. Satan was ruthless and would do anything to hurt someone--even someone Dev loved.

Satan started stalking towards me. He hissed at me, “Where are you going, Katrina?” He hopped up on the large desk, crouching like a predator. “Don’t you want to play?”

“Dev. I know you are in there somewhere. I know you would never hurt me.”
He hissed again, “I will do whatever I please. Just like I did at the campground.”
“I looked at him confused, “What are you talking about?”
Satan smiled a wicked smile. “Oh. You didn’t know,” he laughed maniacally. “I slept with your sister.”
“YOU WHAT!?” I roared, flames spilling from my mouth.

Satan shrieked. He and the desk he was standing on were up in flames. I didn’t care though. I ran from the room; I knew Dev would be okay anyways. Well, the flames wouldn’t hurt him. I could make no promises though.

I hesitantly stood outside the apartment door. I had never done what I was about to do and I was pretty freaked out about it. Taking a deep breath, I knocked on the door. The door opened seconds later and a pretty blonde woman opened the door. A frown appeared on her flawless face.

“What are you doing here? Come to kill your sister again?” The woman told me in a rude tone.
“Hi, Mom. I just want to talk to her.”
“Who is at the door mom?” A voice called from inside the apartment. Kalila’s face appeared at the door. A smile appeared on her face, “Katrina?”
“Hi Kalila...”
Her face fell, “You’re not going to...?”
“No. I’m not going to kill you... For now... Can I see him?”
“Uhm... Sure?” She said questioningly but still opening the door.
I walked in the apartment and saw him laying on the couch. He had a cast on his neck and arm and had bruises all over. I looked over at Kalila, “Didn’t his wings open up?”
She sat down next to Mitch on the couch, stroking his hair as he slept. “They did, but they hit a balcony as they opened up and broke. He fell about 200 stories.”
“And he is okay?”
Kalila looked up at me as if I was so stupid for asking that question. “Of course. God saved him.” I held in a laugh. Kalila turned to face me and said seriously. “So, what did you come here for?”
“I want to help.”
“You? Help? Me? With what?”
“Getting back at Dev.”
“Dev?”
“The devil.
“Oh,” she said playing with her hands in her lap. “Him?”
“I know he seduced you.”
“Well... Don’t put all of the blame on him. That’s not nice. I was apart of it too...”
“Kalila...”
Kalila started to cry silently. “I can’t believe it happened.”
I sighed and rocked back and forth on my heels. “Well...If you want to...I know how we can get back at him.”
My sister sniffled and looked up at me with red swollen eyes. “You would really help me?”
I looked around the room, doing anything to avoid my sister’s gaze. “Really.”
Kalila jumped up from the couch, wrapping me in a warm hug. “Thank you, Katrina. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.”
I shimmied out of the embrace. “Yeah. Well? If we are going to do this then we should discuss the plan.”

----------------

Go time. We had discussed the plan for hours last night. And now was the time to put it into motion. I was crouched in the bushes next to Dev’s office and home. Kalila was hidden in the bushes on the other side of the doors. We observed a larger man walk to the front of the doors. This was it. I walked out of the bushes and up to the man. Twirling my hair and biting my lip, I looked directly into the man’s eyes and asked him in my nicest voice if I could have his keys. He blindly handed them over, entranced by my stare. Kalila appeared by my side and we walked into the building together.

No one was in the lobby except for the lone receptionist. “Hey! You can’t be in here!... Wait... There is two of you?”

Kalila walked over to her and started singing a few notes softly. The receptionist fell over, hitting her head on the desk as she fell into a deep sleep. I turned and stared at my sister--she could actually be pretty useful sometimes.

Grabbing an apple from the bowl on the large counter, I told my sister with a mouthful of juicy apple, “Let’s go.”

I led my sister to the elevator. When the elevator stopped, we entered a room filled with filing cabinets. The room was so large that the ends could not be seen from where we stood. Kalila and I crept to the filing cabinets located in the middle of the room. There were labels on the cabinets, letting the looker know what was inside. We searched until we found the right one and I unlocked it with the keys the security guard had given me. Inside were many DVDs. Flipping through each one, I carefully scanned the label on the case. Kalila, standing next to me, was humming some annoying song. After I had searched through all the movies and still had not found the one I needed. She casually reached over and pulled out the one in front.

She tapped the front of the box, “I believe this is what you are looking for.”

I growled annoyed, “Hey. Don’t forget who is trying to help you here.”

I grabbed the box from her and we walked back into the elevator, taking it all the way to the top. The 666th floor. I casually strolled into the penthouse, while Kalila only nervously poked her head out of the elevator, poking her head side to side.

“Relax, they aren’t here,” I told my sister

“Where are they?”
“North Korea on business.”

“Oh...” She replied quietly, stepping from the elevator.

I walked over to the bedroom that Jasmine and Dev shared. Which side did each sleep on? Oh wait. Piece of cake. One nightstand was nice and neat and orderly, while the other was covered in different night creams and other beauty products. That must be Dev’s side. I walked over to the other neat orderly side of the bed, Jasmine’s side, and put the DVD on the pillow. Then, I flipped my hair over my shoulder, grabbed my sister, and walked triumphantly out of the apartment.
