Missed Opportunities - JR

     It had been a while since you had moved in South Korea. You had finished your studies there, and decided to stay because you got a nice job offer in the entertainment industry.  Thanks to that, you had met Kim Jonghyun, or JR, from Nu'Est. You had gone on a couple of dates with him, but you two weren't dating. Every time you went out together, you had a good time, but it never ended up into anything. This night was no different. The singer had invited you to dinner in a nice Japanese restaurant. Each table there had its own private room, which meant you spent the entire evening in a small room, eating sushi privately with JR. You had to admit it, you were starting to have strong romantic feelings for him. You had always been attracted to him, but now that you had gotten to know him better, you were starting to really fall in love. And you did not like the idea. Because it was pleasant to go out with him, but frustrating not to see him make any move on you. And you were starting to wonder if he was just going out with you as a friend, because he was bored or worse, just to make fun of you. Knowing him, you didn't believe it was the case, but you couldn't help doubting after all of the times you've felt let down.

     "I'll walk you home." Jonghyun told you with a shy smile. "Dinner was so nice I didn't see the time fly by. It's really late and I wouldn't trust a pretty girl to walk the streets alone."

     You giggled at his comments. You found him so sweet. Maybe this night was the night, you hoped. Maybe he would kiss you tonight. "My apartment building isn't that far from here, Jonghyun." You told him, amused. "But I'll be happy to walk with you." You dared to touch his elbow before taking your hand away to bow. "Thanks again for dinner, it was very nice, I didn't think I'd ever eat in a place this fancy with such a handsome gentleman!" JR just nodded and looked away.

     Your face was clearly lit up with hope and excitement as you walked alongside JR in the streets of Seoul. Even though he had gained a lot of popularity lately, he was still able to walk outside without getting recognized, and it was late, so there was no risk you would be disturbed by fans. You talked about everything and anything as you got close to the place you lived in. That's what you liked about JR: beside his looks, talents and charms, you had a real connection. You had the same point of view on life matters, and also the same humor. You were confident you'd work well as a couple. Finally, you arrived in front of your building. As you two stopped, you turned around to JR, looking into his eyes, expectant. 

     "Here you are, (_____)-ah. I'm glad to know you came home safely." JR said as he looked into your eyes, but he looked away right after. You felt disappointed. Was he about to leave you here, like that, once again? You really didn't want to, so you decided to make a step.

     "I'm glad you walked with me. Thanks once again for dinner. I loved it. And I really love spending some time with you like that, just the two of us." You told him as you softly took a step towards him, biting softly your lower lip as you stared into Jonghyun's eyes. It was impossible for him not to get the hint. 

     "I like spending time with you as well. It is nice to have some private moments like this one. It's relaxing." He said as he looked away once again. You were confused. You did not really know how to take what he had just said. But you knew that JR wasn't the best with girls, and that he was still shy. You frowned but decided to keep on making a move. You know that if you didn't kiss tonight, you would start to be annoyed with him. You took another step forward and grabbed JR's hand. Your eyes were stuck on his lips. You were about to say something but he stopped you by squeezing your hand. "I should go back to my dorm, because it's so late. I'll text you tomorrow. Sleep well, (_____)-ah!" And then he bowed and left. 

     Again. It happened again. You spent a wonderful evening, even a romantic one. JR gave you the feeling that he would finally kiss you and elevate your relationship, but backed away and left you hanging right before it would happen. You knew he was shy, but it had been a while since you two started going out together now. You were texting almost everyday. You knew about his idol life and about his busy schedule. So why weren't he dating you more seriously? It was starting to annoy you, and what bugged you the most is that the more disappointed you were feeling, the more you realized how much you were falling in love with him. You decided not to overthink for tonight.
