I smiled to myself as I got out the car. It'd been a full year since me and my mom had left Riverdale and now we were back. My mom being very highly respected in the police had been called back urgently by sheriff Keller to aid in the case involving the murder of Jason Blossom.
I'd been happy enough to move back to Riverdale, I missed my friends and I missed the boy who my parting with didn't end on particularly good terms. I began to drift into thought about my last day before my mom spoke.
"Here (y/n), take this and go get yourself something at Pop's. Maybe see if you can meet some people, I'll handle the unpacking don't worry." She said, handing me some money as I walked out the drive and started the walk to Pop's that was still so familiar.
The walk there was nice, I enjoyed the nostalgia as I made my way to the iconic diner. Even the sound of the bell ringing as I entered made me feel comforted. It was good to be back.
I looked around the almost empty diner, seeing if I could recognise any faces. As I walked in four people faced me. I recognised them as soon as I saw them sitting there, it had only been a year, I hadn't just forgotten my best friends.
"(Y/n)?! No way! You're back!" I was quickly engulfed into a massive hug by a redheaded boy, it was good to see Archie again. Two girls ran up close behind, both hugging me as they both spoke.
"When did you get back? Why didn't you call? It's been so long!" The smile on my face was stretched wider than I thought possible, then I met the eyes of the boy who was still sat in the booth only just starting to get up.

"Why didn't you tell me sooner (y/n)! You're leaving? Tomorrow! Do you know what that's going to do to me (y/n)? It's tearing me apart right now." The boy in front of me had tears in his eyes as we stood outside Pop's in the rain."I didn't know how to tell you Jughead, do you really think I want to leave you? You mean more to me than you could ever imagine Juggie, I don't want to go." I felt myself tearing up as I spoke to him.
"Yeah well, you're going." He shook his head, he looked annoyed, like I had some say in deciding whether my family moved.
"Jughead you really think I have a say in this? This is my mom's decision I can't argue with her. You have other friends why do you care so much that I'm leaving!?" I said, raising my voice slightly, feeling myself getting more and more wound up.
"Because you mean more to me than them (y/n)! Because I love you!" Silence fell over our conversation as we stood in the rain, I wanted to speak, I wanted to say something.
"Goodbye (y/n/n)." Jughead said, turning around and leaving me standing.
"Juggie..." He didn't turn back, he kept walking away from me.
****************************
I tried to find him the next day before we left, but I never got the chance, and now here he was standing in front of me. It'd been a full year since we parted ways and there wasn't one day I didn't think about the terms we'd left on, and everything I wanted to tell him. I got nervous, unsure of what he'd do or say. No one else knew about what he'd told me, that much I could guess."It's been a while (y/n/n)." Jughead said to me, smiling lightly as he stood next to Archie and the others.
"Lets go sit guys. We've got a lot of catching up to do." Archie asked, walking towards the booth.
"Actually, (y/n) can I speak to you outside? We'll be in in a minute guys." Jughead said, gesturing towards the door. I followed him outside and we walked to the side of the diner where no one would see us. I got a sense of déjà vu as we stood facing each other in the rain outside Pop's.
"Look (y/n), I'm sorry. I'm sorry about how things ended. There's not been one day I've not thought about how we left things. Not been one day I've not regretted saying what I said. But there's one thing I don't regret saying and that's not changed since you left and I'm sorry if it makes it awkward and I'm sorry if I ruined our friendship but I can't keep lying to myself about how I feel (y/n) I just..."
I cut him off as I pressed my lips against his. He was surprised at first as I felt him tense up, but I didn't back down. It was under a second before he relaxed into it, placing his hands on my waist.
"I've waited a full year to finally answer you Juggie." I said, laughing. He allowed himself to smile.
"I'm never letting you go again."
