Oliver POV

I woke up to the sound of something vibrating annoyingly. With my eyes still closed I lifted my arm and patted around the night table looking for my phone. When I finally came across it, I slightly opened my eyes to see if it was an alarm or a call that made it vibrate. Big letters lit the screen showing the name of my partner Warren Lee. I swiped the green button and put the phone to my ear and shut my eyes again.

"Yeah." I spoke gruffly.

"Wow, is that your morning voice or your hangover voice?" Warren questioned sarcastically. I scoffed,

"Both."

"Did you just get up."

"Mhmm."

"Well, sorry to tell you buddy but you're going to be late in about," Warren paused. "Fifteen minutes." My eyes shot open and I quickly sat up in bed. I looked around for my clock and saw 7:45 am.

"Shit." I threw the covers off of me and tried to hop off but my foot got caught in the duvet and I instantly face planted onto the carpet.

"Ooh, that sounded like it hurt." Warren said, I could hear his stifled laughter through the phone.

"Shut it Warren." I snapped as I pulled myself up and gathered myself, "I'll call you when I'm on the road."

"Chief isn't going to like this, is this the fourth time you've been late?" Warren teased.

"Make up some excuse, tell him I had to drop off Melody to school."

"Alright whatever." He sighed. I quickly threw on some navy blue dress pants and a clean white dress shirt. I shoved my wallet and phone into my pocket and folded the cuffs on my sleeves and quickly brushed back my hair.

"Fuck I'm an idiot." I mumbled to myself. I put a neck tie around my collar but didn't tie it, and eventually made myself downstairs to the kitchen where Melody was already finishing her cereal.

"I was wondering when you were going to get up." She said with a soft smile. I didn't notice her smile when I went for the coffee pot and poured the rest of the coffee into a traveling mug.

"Sorry Mel, I'm running a little late." her smile faltered a bit but I didn't notice.

"Turn around." I did and she shoved toast in my mouth, "I'll tie your tie." I finished the toast and looked at the watch on my wrist, I had six minutes left until 8:00. Melody finished tying my tie and looked up at me with a brown bag in hand.

"Here's lunch and a bottle of Advil." I smiled and kissed my little sister's forehead.

"You're the best." I said before running out the door.

"Don't forget your keys!" I paused in my tracks and leaned back to grab my car keys from the rack next to the door.

"See you later Mel!" I called out as I ran to my car. In the process I almost trip on my own shoe and curse under my breath as I get in my car.

Melody POV

My body naturally woke me up at 6: 50 am, I was a bit annoyed for waking up so early but I got up anyway. I sat up on my bed and rubbed my eyes trying to rub away the sleep. I sighed loudly and removed myself from the warm embrace of the bed.

"Ollie?" I called out. I peeked my head into his room seeing him sleeping in the awkwardest and the weirdest position I have ever seen. The urge to take a picture and laugh out loud was very strong but another urge that was taking over my mind, the urge to cut myself. Slowly I backed out of my older brothers room and scurried back to mine, I got on all fours and reached beneath my bed to grab the shoebox that contained my knives and razors. I went into my closet and sat criss cross on the floor beneath all my clothes and pulled up my pajama shirt. I laid out a dark towel on the floor so it would catch blood and then began my daily cutting routine. After five cuts I walked out of my closet, cleaned the razor I used and then wrapped my wrist. I quietly shoved the box filled with the sharp metal underneath my bed and decided to change my clothes before I made breakfast.
