My parents took Torrance's family, Drake and myself out to dinner at the nicest hotel. The restaurant was highly recommended and the food was amazing.
I tried to act like I was being engaged at the conversation at our table, but my mind was elsewhere.
That couldn't have been Harry at the graduation?
How would he have known?
It was silly of me to think that he was there.
"(Y/n), will you come with me to the restroom?" Torrance asked me as she bumped her elbow against mine lightly.
I nodded and we both got up from the table and headed to the bathroom.
We were the only ones inside.
Torrance turned around to face me, "Is something wrong?"
"What do you mean?" I asked her as I checked my reflection in the mirror.
"You've been acting weird ever since we graduated. Are you feeling nostalgic or something?"
I looked down at my shoes. I knew she wasn't going to let this go until I told her. "I thought... I thought I saw Harry today."
Her eyes went wide a little, "What?"
"After we got our diplomas and our families came to us, I thought I saw him in the crowd." I explained.
"That's impossible. It's been four years. He hasn't even tried to contact you." Torrance said.
I never told her about the voicemail.
"Yeah, he hasn't. I guess I was just being silly." I chuckled a little.
Torrance touched up her lipgloss before we left the restroom. I was trying to get her to at least say something to my brother. They were awkwardly avoiding each other.
Someone bumped into me.
"Hey, watch where you are going!" Torrance told the person before I got the chance to.
I looked up and I swear I nearly fainted.
"Harry?"
I saw his eyes go wide.
"Oh my gosh." I heard Torrance mutter under her breath.
"Hello, (y/n). How are you?" He asked me. I could tell that time did him well.
"I'm uh fine. How are you, Harry?"
This couldn't get anymore awkward.
"I've been better. I can see congratulations are in order." He gestured toward our graduation gowns.
"Yeah, we sort of graduated today. No big deal." Torrance said. I could tell that she didn't want to be having this conversation right now.
Harry fought a smile, "Congratulations to the both of you."
"Thanks." I mumbled.
You could cut the tension with a knife.
"Well, we have to go! It was nice seeing you, Harry." Torrance grabbed my hand and led me back to the restaurant.
I took one last glance at Harry. He watched us leave. Part of me wanted to stay and talk to him, but the other part was glad that Torrance practically dragged me away.
We got back to the table and my thoughts went to Harry.
Now that I know he was in town, could he have been at my graduation?
That night, I was in my room and I couldn't stop thinking about him.
I hated to admit that I felt something when I saw him again. After all these years, he still managed to make my heart race.
I hated it.
He broke up with me.
I should hate him.
But I didn't.
I grabbed my computer and powered it on. I ran my fingers through my hair.
Harry looked amazing. I wondered if he noticed anything different with me.
I mean, nothing about my appearance changed drastically. My hair had gotten longer, and I felt like I grew a little. I didn't feel like a teenager anymore.
Once my computer was on, I googled Harry. I couldn't believe that I had stooped this low, but ever since we broke up, I tried to avoid reading anything about him or the other guys.
I read a few articles. Harry and the guys were in town for some business. They had taken a break a while ago, but they were back and better than ever.
I knew the real reason why I looked him up.
I wanted to see if he was with anyone.
Before I could look anymore, I closed my laptop and got in bed.
That was the first night in a long time that I dreamt of Harry Styles.
I knew that my late night stalking would hurt me in the morning. I walked into work tired and annoyed with myself.
"(Y/n), Mallory wants to see you in her office." Florence, the secretary told me before I went into my office.
Oh great.
I haven't done anything to make Mallory upset.
Mallory Elsberry was one of the best event planners in the state. I was so honored that I worked with her. Whenever someone needed an event planned, she was the one they would call.
I was just starting. I wished that I could do what she did when I was more accomplished.
I took a deep breath before I walked into her office. It was huge. Mine was okay, but her's was bigger than my bedroom.
"Good morning, (y/n)." She told me as I entered.
"Good morning. Florence said you wanted to see me?" I said as I took a seat in front of her desk.
"Yes, as you know, we have been asked to throw the annual Young Hollywood party this year. I want you to be my right hand woman. I want to mold you into the future of this business. You will help me with planning, making sure the guests are all happy, and making sure the performers have exactly what they need. Are you up for it?" Mallory asked me.
"Of course I am!" I smiled.
"Great, we need to get started with it as soon as possible. The party is in a month and a half. Here are the guest list and the list of performers." She handed me the list and I looked it over.
They were having a lot of A-listers coming.
I looked at the page with the performers.
The first name on the list.... One Direction.
