The next day at the office, I couldn't pay attention. I had been so distracted since the kiss I had with Harry.
Who knew one kiss could stir up so many emotions. At one point I was angry that he did so, but then the next, I enjoyed it. A lot.
I felt like that teenage girl that was so in love with him. But, I couldn't forget the past. I couldn't pretend that he never broke my heart.... twice.
I couldn't forget.
My phone ringing snapped me out of my thoughts.
"Hello?" I answered.
"(Y/n), can you come meet me in my office please?" It was Mallory.
"Yes, I will be there in a moment." I told her. I hung up and left my office to go to hers. I knocked on the door and I heard her tell me to come in.
When I walked in, she was on the phone. She pointed for me to take a seat and to wait. I had to wait a few minutes while she spoke with someone about flowers.
When she hung up, she turned to me. "How are you today?"
"I'm fine. How are you?"
She smiled, "I'm doing good. I was reading the paper this morning and I turned to the entertainment section and I saw this." Mallory showed me the cover of the entertainment section and I saw my face. There was a picture of Harry and I leaving the restaurant. The picture had hearts all over it. I grabbed it out of her hands and stared at it.
It was after the fight that we had. After the waiter gave me his number.
"Are you two seeing each other?" Mallory asked me.
"We used to. When we were young. I met him when I first moved to London." I answered.
"This is going to be great press for the party. Everyone is going to be watching if you two will show up on the red carpet together." Mallory practically squealed.
"Oh no. It's not like that between Harry and I. We are just friends now." I told her.
"Just imagine the press we could get from this. 'Harry Styles reunites with teenage love'. The story practically writes itself."
I shook my head, "He and I aren't together, Mallory."
I saw the sparkle in her eye as she thought of how much publicity would come from Harry and I being at the party together. I wasn't going to let her try and make a mockery of this.
"Can't you just bump into him on the carpet and pose for a few photos?" She suggested.
"No, because it has the wrong intentions. He and I have been through enough."
"Fine, I won't force you to do anything that you don't want to do. I want you to look over some of the plans that we have so far. I'm meeting with the florist in an hour if you want to join me?" Mallory suggested.
I honestly didn't want to go with her.
"Oh I have some things I need to take care of here." I faintly smiled.
She nodded, "Okay. I will see you tomorrow."
I grabbed the files that she handed me and left her office. I went back to my office and checked my phone. I didn't have any texts or calls. Part of me knew that I was constantly checking to see if Harry had called or something.
Part of me had hope that he would come here and kiss me like out of some cheesy movie and tell me that he should've never let me go.
I knew that was unrealistic. I practically told him that I didn't trust him.
When I got home, Torrance was there already. She was making dinner when I arrived. We usually alternated who would cook on most nights, but now that we were both busy with work, we usually just let the person who arrived first to cook.
"Hey there." Torrance smiled at me.
"Hey." I mumbled back.
"Are you okay? How was work?" Torrance asked me as I set my things down and sat at the counter.
"It was fine until Mallory practically begged me to show up to the party with Harry for publicity." I told her.
"What?!"
I chuckled a bit, "Yeah, that was my reaction too."
"You didn't agree to that did you?" Torrance questioned.
"Of course not. Harry and I... we are just friends. Well, I don't even know if we are actually." I told Torrance what happened after I went out with Harry last night.
She was shocked that we kissed like I had been, but she told me it was inevitable.
"You and Harry... you guys are meant to be." Torrance said.
"You think so?" I asked her.
She nodded, "After all this time, you two managed to find each other. He messed up and yet, here you two are."
"He said that he wasn't good enough for me. He didn't even try." I muttered as I looked down at my hands.
"You know, if you don't think you are good enough for someone, you don't end it. You are supposed to be the person that deserves them. Maybe now he is trying to change that." Torrance said. Her words struck a chord with me.
She was right. I needed to see him.
I grabbed my keys and purse and hurried out of my apartment. I couldn't wait anymore. I drove carefully to the hotel that Harry was staying in. I kept replaying what Torrance told me on the way.
Harry and I were like two magnets. It was an instant connection.
I loved him. I always have and I always will.
When I got to his hotel room, I took a deep breath before I knocked on the door. I couldn't stop shaking.
Harry opened the door and I could tell that he was shocked to see me.
"(Y/n)." He breathed out.
"Harry, we need to talk. Well, I need to talk, you just listen. Kissing you yesterday was the best and worst thing that could've happened to me. It showed me that I care about you. I haven't stopped loving you since I last saw you and I know that we both messed up in the past. But none of that matters because we were meant to be together." I confessed.
I at least expected Harry to show some emotion. He just stood there.
"Harry?" someone in the apartment called out. Harry turned around and I was able to see who it was.
I recognized her instantly. Her name was Lana Stevens. She was an actress and breathtakingly beautiful. I could tell by the look on Harry's face that I interrupted something.
I interrupted them.
