Important information prior to reading:
Firstly, please do not plagiarize. This includes word per word or coyly trying to change up some of the dialogue, utilizing my characters with the same names or utilizing my character but changing their names. I have worked hard to write this story and have kindly chosen to post it online for free, please do not take advantage of my kindness. Despite this being my first story posted, I do have experience freely posting my stories online, and two times I have had the same story be stolen. Plagiarism is serious and it is a crime, if I find out my story has been posted elsewhere I will take action.
Secondly, I am Canadian, therefore, this story will be written in Canadian English, which is sort of a mix between American and British English. This means that some spelling will be different from those who are not from Canada.
For example:
American spelling: Color
Canadian spelling: Colour
The places in this story will all be fictional, however, I will be applying some of the rules used in Canada. Such as our temperature, which is measured in Celsius, not Fahrenheit. Therefore, if ever in this story the temperature is mentioned, just note that it will be in Celsius. However, do not worry too much about this.
The schooling system in this story will also follow how things are done in Canada. The school year for University students begin in September and end depending on your final exam, but typically end in April, high school and elementary is from September to June. The characters in this story are University students, and their years spent in high school might also be referred to, so if dates are mentioned this is here to clarify any confusion since I know those of you from different countries have a different education system.
Also, age wise the education system works like this:
Elementary school- Kindergarten-Grade 5 (Ages 4-10)
Middle school- Grade 6-Grade 8 (Ages 10-14)
High school- Grade 9-Grade 12 (Ages 14-18)
University- Typically you spend 4 years, but it all depends on your program.
College- Typically 2 years, but like University it all depends on your program.
Another important thing to note is that in Canada, the legal drinking age is 19 in most provinces, it is 18 in provinces like Quebec, but I will be using 19 for my story.
Vocabulary (While reading this story if there are any unfamiliar words used, you can always refer back to this):
Homo Sapiens X – New human species created by Scientist Lincoln Worthington, they have advanced healing, speed, strength, hearing, sight, etc. Basically, they have all the traits regular humans have, but are better.
The X's – Short form for Homo Sapiens X, this term will be utilized more than the full name throughout this story.
Regular humans – Pretty self-explanatory, but these are normal humans, their DNA has never been altered like the X's. They are just like me and you.... unless you are a robot.
Regs – Short form for regular humans.
(More will be added as more chapters are added.)
Story description:
"Don't you see the cycle we are living in? The same repeating cycle our ancestors have lived in?" I yell glaring at him.
He chooses to remain silent, his eyes set in a hard glare. He's starting to get annoyed with me, but I have to help him understand the reality of our situation, "Of course you don't see it. How could I be so stupid as to think–"
"I choose not to see it." He says calmly, "I choose to do so because the way I feel about you means so much more to me."
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
After the creation of Homo Sapiens X, a new and improved species of humans, the world has never been the same. A strict hierarchy exists with the X's on top and the regular humans on the bottom. Segregation and discrimination continue to viciously thrive in this environment, as the hate amongst the two species of humans continue to grow daily.
The years of bad blood between the two species has made co-existence very difficult. When Worthington University, a school strictly made for the X's, decides to conduct an experiment in attempt to establish the possibility of co-existence, Veronica "Ronnie" Morrison is unfortunately picked as one of the Guinea pigs.
As she moves onto enemy grounds, Ronnie begins to realize that in order to possibly end the hierarchical cycle she has been living in for years and survive she must make a choice: her own kind, or the other. Ronnie's choice would have been easy, had she not found herself falling for Mason Worthington, an X and a descendant of the late Scientist Lincoln Worthington who created the formula for Homo Sapiens X.
Her choice will be difficult; it will be the only one that counts.
Thank you for choosing to read this story, and I hope you all enjoy it!
