Erik

He set down a plate in front of me. "Now eat up." He said. I looked down at the food in front of me. I push it away. He sighs and pushes it toward me. "Erik, you need to eat. I cooked this food just for the two of us. The least you can do is eat." He said. His wife came in. "Being fussy again?" She asked him. Nadir nodded at her question. She rolled her eyes at me. "I suppose I'll just eat the dessert I had planned for us." She said. I crossed my arms. "I am not falling for it Nashata." I say. She picks up the plate and begins to eat the steak. "Well?" Nadir asked me. "Fine." I say. I take the plate and eat the rest. Sasha comes over and brushes against my leg. "Looks like someone needs to be let out. Erik?" Nadir said. I looked up at him with my mouth full. "You know I can't do that. Besides." I swallow down the food and stand up. "People will stare." I say. "Oh right. I'll do it." Nashata motions for Sasha by the door and they both head out. Nadir turns to look at me.

"Well I best be getting to work." He stood up and grabbed his coat. He turned to look at me. "Stay outta trouble." He gave me the evil eye and I nodded. "I don't make promises." I say. He rolls his eyes and closes the door behind him. I run into my bedroom and open my trunk of clothes. I put on a hat that didn't fit right on my head but I didn't care. I heard the door open and saw Nashata. "Erik?" She called out my name several times. I put down the hat and poked my head out. "I'm here." I said. Nashata saw me and smiled. "Oh silly, I was gonna read you your favorite story. Masque of the Red Death. But it seems that you wanna go for a walk." She said. I was confused but then I noticed my hat. I sighed and closed my bedroom door. I opened it once again and I stepped out with the hat on.

"Let's go." Nashata said. She took my hand and we headed out. I saw several police officers and many people were arguing. I held my head low so no one would notice me. We walked up to a small shop and inside it was filled to the brim with many trinkets from past generations. I noticed several small statues of angels and people praying. Nashata was over by the bookshelf looking for anything new. I was watching her but then I saw someone out of the corner of my eye. It was girl with chocolate brown hair running down her back. She was dressed all in white and had a basket of flowers. I was distracted by her and walked slowly toward her. I followed her down the street; quietly stalking her. She looked pretty and seemed familiar. She began to hum a little tune that made her sound heavenly.

Flowers are abloom

Such as friends along with enemies

But alas the peace will continue on

No one can argue

But many will agree

Peace comes close from the heart along with love

Love can sure change oneself

Along with everything else

I was taken aback by her singing. "You sound lovely miss." I said. She immediately jumped and spun around to see where the voice had come from. She looked down at me and smiled. "Oh. Sorry, you startled me." When I saw her face, I immediately felt my stomach turn. It was that same girl from yesterday. She wore a bonnet over her head so she appeared to look like a young woman. "Erik!" I heard Nashata's voice from down the street and I turned to look at her. She ran up to me and pulled me close. "I was worried sick about you! Never do that again!" She said. She looked back at the girl. "I'm so sorry miss but my son tends to wander." She gave her a nervous smile and grabbed my wrist. "What were you doing out there? You know the rule! Stay close!" She went on about the dangers. I looked back at the girl and she tilted her head to the side. I liked seeing her like that. She looked adorable that way.
