"Mom, what happened, is Bree ok?" My voice came out in a hurried muffle against her shoulder.
"They took her up to surgery, sh-she broke her arm, and she has a piece of glass in her stomach." My mom couldn't even look at me without crying.
Since I was majoring in Biology and was planning on going to medical school, this was a big insight to what it would be like in the other shoe. Now I would forever understand what the family was going through, because my family is in that position."What about her friend and the mom?" I asked my dad mostly.
"They don't even have a god damn scratch on them, it's a good thing they went to another hospital because if that woman even thought about coming near this family again, I would-"
"Garrett! Our daughter is in surgery and you are complaining about that woman and her daughter not getting hurt? It's a miracle they didn't get hurt!" My mom's eyes were dry now and replaced with disgust that my dad would use such words in a hospital.
My mom is the kind of person who only cusses or says anything bad when it affects her or when she is drunk, which is every 5 days. My dad on the other hand, is a man who doesn't take shit from anyone, but he does it in a manner where he tries to make sure no one gets hurt.
But when all is well at home they are a perfect loving couple."Sarah, honey, I'm sorry, forget I said anything, I'm going to get coffee, Al you want some?" My dad didn't wait for me to answer before he left, yep he was definitely pissed.
An hour or two passed before a doctor came out to tell us that her surgery was successful, and that she would be waking up soon. We all jumped and ran to her room.
When we got to her room she was still knocked out from the medicine, but I noticed a doctor whom I'd never seen before, writing her information down.
After he turned around, I felt a sense of familiarity looking at his face."Oh, hi there, you must be Brianna's family. Let me introduce myself, I am Dr. Chase Reynolds, your daughter's Surgeon and Doctor. He reached out to shake all of our hands, and as I looked in his ice blue eyes, I knew right away how I recognized him.
"How come you weren't the one to tell us she was done with surgery?" My mom asked.
"We only send the actual surgeon when something bad happened, and Brianna's surgery went fantastic." He laughed at what my mom said and the faint lines around his eyes danced as he talked.
"Thank you so much doctor." My mom and my dad shook his hand.
"Alright, well I will let you be, she should wake up any minute now." He walked away and I slipped out of the room to talk to him.
"Dr. Reynolds, are you Jesse Reynold's dad?" He whipped around so fast and looked me up and down with panic on his face.
"Yes, I am, why? Is Jesse hurt, is he in trouble?" The worry on his face made me start to wonder if he was actually hurt.
"No, he's perfectly fine, my name is Alexandra, and I go to school with Jesse. Well we're actually partners on a project in Biology, which I'm sure he's said how much he hates." I looked down at my chipped toenail polish, waiting for him to say something.
"He has mentioned a project in Biology, and that he was working with a girl, but he is very shy on details lately." He's talked about me?
"I'm sure he doesn't mean to be, Biology is my favorite class and he seems to enjoy it too." I said.
"Do you want to go in the medical field?" He looks intrigued now.
"Yes, I'm majoring in Biology, and I want to work in a hospital, whatever it is." I smiled thinking about my future.
"That's great." He smiled back.
"But anyways, sorry to bother you, you just look exactly like Jesse."
"It is never a bother, but tell me, do you like my son Alexandra?" Haha, how do I begin to answer that.
"I think your son is a very smart man and he is nice, when he wants to be." I mumbled the last part but he heard it loud and clear.
"I see, well it was nice to meet you, I hope to see you again, but under different circumstances." He shook my hand again and walked away.
I hope he doesn't think he will see me because of Jesse and I 'hanging out' cause I don't think so Tim, wait his name is Chase not Tim."Did you know that Doc, Al?" My dad asked, but I just said I needed water for Bree, even though I don't have it, so I didn't have to talk about Jesse.
My dad cared too much about my relationships and the boys I dated. Even though I was definitely not dating Jesse, I didn't want to talk about him. This chapter was so cute to write, because you meet Jesse's dad and he meets Al, and it's just so cute. Next chapter will have a different POV, so make sure you read it!! I will post again on Wednesday, but in the meantime didn't forget to vote and comment. Until next time, my bookworms👓🐛📚
