A New Life

Katie's Pov

1 year later

"Katherine Marie Gardener"
  As heard my name called I smiled and walked across the stage. My principal hands me my dimpola and I shake his hand. As I walk back to my seat I see Chiron, my younger sister, Miranda, Connor, and my grandparents all smiling at me. Some even crying.
  I walk back to my seat and wait for them to say 'Class of 2012'. As I see my friends get their dimpola , I smile and clap. I smile widely when I see my boyfriend, Chris, walk across the stage.
  When our Principal started talking again, I just waited for him to say 'Class of 2012'. And when he did we all threw up our caps, knowing there is a new stage of life in front of us.

   I walk around the room looking for my Grandparents, Chiron, Miranda and Connor. But then I see Chris looking for someone. He notices me and his face lights up. I run (more like fast walk because I'm in heels an the room is crowded) to him and hug him tightly.

  "Chris! I can't believe we did it! I can't believe we've graduated!" I exclaim excitedly, pulling away from his embrace.
   "Me too babe! I can't believe we finally did it!" I replied, matching my tone. We looked each other smiling so widely, and we were leaning in until we were interrupted.
   "Katie I can't believe it!" I hear Miranda exclaimed. She ran up to me and hugged me tightly, not noticing that Chris and I were having a moment.
   " Me either Mir! It wouldn't have happened if Grandma and Grandpa wouldn't have let me live with them! Or if Chiron wouldn't have let me leave!" I say while pulling away from Miranda. "Hey Connor, glad you came." I say to him and hugged him.
  Just because of what his brother did doesn't mean I'm not going to talk to him. In fact, he knows that Travis did wrong and doesn't talk to him as much as he use to. He says it was very stupid of him and he was tired of Travis using girls. Now Connor and I are closer than ever.
  "So who is this?" Miranda asked me with confusion written on her face.
   " Oh! Sorry 'bout that! Miranda this is Chris my boyfriend, and Chris this is Miranda my half-sister."
   "Nice to meet you Chris." Miranda said shaking his hand.
   "Nice to meet you too. Katie has told me so much about you." Chris replied.
  "So where is Chiron?" I ask Miranda.
   "He is at the restaurant where your Grandparents are."
   "Oh, ok then. See you at the party Chris!" I tell him and kiss him goodbye.
   "Actually I'm going with y'all." He said.
  "Your mom does mind at all?"
  "Yeah she doesn't mind at all. I saw her right after before she left for California for a conference."
  "Ok, great!"

   It's been about 2 hours since we've been sitting here at the restaurant. We've been sharing old memories, and future plans all night long.
   You know, I'm so glad grandma and grandpa let me live with them  in Hernando, Mississippi. I wouldn't get to graduate, have Chris, or have normal friends.
  "So how long have you and Chris been together Katie?" Connor asks me.
  " We've been together about a month after I've left." I replied.
  "Oh. Ok," he said. That was weird.
  "Oh! Speaking of us being together, Katie I have something important to tell you!" Chris says.
   I stare at him in confusion. Then I ask him," Chris what are you-"
  "Will you marry me Katie?"
