Chapter One

Jas' P.O.V

‘Let’s waste time, Chasing Cars... around our heads’

The words quietly drifted around my darkened brain, as they have for the past seven months.

“LOOK AT THE TIME! WAKE UP, WAKE UP, WAKE UP RIGHT NOW” I groaned and rolled over, curling myself in fuzzy warm sheets.

Rain slipped down my bedroom windows, the droplets creating my favourite sound.

“Can’t I just stay in bed today? It’s raining, I don’t want to go” I moped, dragging the ‘go’ a little longer than I should have. The sheets were so comforting, I never wanted to leave.

“Well that’s Manchester weather for you. C’mon, I refuse to be late... again. If you’re not up in five minutes, I’m dragging your ass out.” She stomped away from me as I groaned and rolled over and off the bed with a thump.

“ugh.”

My new friend Amelia and I ran through the empty corridors of East Columbus High. Our teacher Mrs. Amherst isn’t exactly impressed when we show up on her doorstep late to our first class of the day. She taught Media, which for the record I was top of my class at, even if the teacher hated me.

“I can’t wait for her to spit in my face again.” Amy complained, sighing as we approached the classroom.

“Re-lax. Mrs. Higgins has our back.”

Mrs. Higgins is the Media manager, we get on really well. She took me to a local tv show screening a few months back, where I met many actors and learned hell of a lot. Turning up to class late is never a problem with her on my side.

We reached her class and the door swung open.

"Go get a late note.” the short, dark haired lady ordered, grumpy as always.

Amy and I exchanged alarming glances.

“Well?” she demanded once again.

“Uh, um, I apologize Miss. We had to see Miss Higgins befo-”

“IT’S MRS, MRS HELEN AMHERST.”

Unbelievable to think she's married, goes nuts when you forget it though.

“Sorry, Mrs Amherst. I didn’t mean to-”

“ENOUGH, JUST GO SIT DOWN. I'm so very sick of the pathetic excuses you two bring to class.”

The class sat siletly as Amy and I scurried to our seats at separate sides of the classroom, but as the bad-tempered teacher carried on with her work, Amelia turned around and gave me a thumps up. I grinned back, and stared at the clock as I counted down the seconds until we were released from the devil.

The bell rang, freeing us from Mrs. Amherst deadly gaze and loud spitting mouth.

“Where to now?” Amy asked, observing her ripped up timetable.

“You have Food Tech; I on the other hand am on my way to Higgins’ office for a very important meeting.” I stated in my poor posh accent.

“Ew lucky bitch, go have fun alright” She teased, laughing.
