Chapter Seven
3 weeks later
AMELIA'S P.O.V
I woke up to the irritating sound of girls giggling in the corridor.
“Jas?”
I rolled over to see her bed messed up, sheets sprawled across the floor. The curtains were still shut, cancelling the sun from our dark room. She must be having her morning shower.
I picked up my phone to see my face in its reflection, messed up hair and sleepy eyelids.
“Ugh gross,”
I groaned and dropped my phone in disgust.
I rolled out of the warm sheets and dragged the curtains open, the sun hit my eyes and I hissed and closed them again.
On my way over to the hairbrush at the end of my bed, I heard a phone ring.
‘Jealousy, turning saints into the sea’
I slowly approached my roommates white phone, it was buzzing and lighting up.
Unknown Number
Without thinking I picked up the livelike device and pressed answer.
“Hello?”
“Hi, this is a call from the X Factor management, is Jasmin Lovelock speaking?”
I paused.
“Yes,” I lied.
((better for them to think i’m jas then take a chance at calling back))
“My name is Mark Davidson, you were shown on air carrying in Miss Sydney Blakeley in after she had an accident. Is this correct?”
“Yes, Mr Davidson”
“We have been informed that you helped the girl to safety. We want to thank you, and invite you to work on the X Factor crew again, going to boot camp and judges houses.”
"Really?"
"Yes."
Oh my god.
“I KNEW IT! I TOLD HER OVER AND OVER SHE WOULD GET SOMETHING FROM THAT AND SHE NEVER BELI-“
Wait, shit.
“What I meant was thank you sir, it’s an honour.”
“You earned it. We have posted a letter you in the mail with extra information and a form that needs to be sent back to us as soon as possible. I look forward to seeing you in 2 weeks.”
He hung up.
I sprinted out the bedroom, messed up hair and all, down the corridor to the showers.
“EXCUSE ME, COMING THROUGH”
I pushed through the line of girls waiting for the showers to free, they argued in protest as I opened the door to the steamy room of individual showers behind small doors.
“JAS ARE YOU IN HERE?”
With no answer I pushed my way out and ran down the stairs, into the cafeteria.
I watched Aria and Dylan pick at their breakfast, completely unamused and still wearing pyjama pants.
I hurried over to them.
“Have you guys seen Jas?”
The pair of them took a long lazy look around the room, and shook their heads.
I left the table of the half dead, but before I was far enough away Dylan called me back.
“Why did you call me back? Do you know where she is now?”
“No…”
He answered, looking like he was about to drop to the floor and sleep.
“But Isaac might,”
I thanked Dylan and bolted over to Isaac, who was piling his plate up with pancakes.
“Yes Amelia?” he asked before looking up,
“Lahey, have you seen Jas?”
He smirked,
“And what will you give me if I tell you? Since you called me by my last name I assume it’s extremely urgent that you need to see her.”
“Just tell me where she is, it’s important.”
“Everything is important when it comes to you Amelia.”
ISAAC SHUT UP AND TELL ME THIS IS NOT THE TIME TO BE A DICK
“Lahey…”
He chuckled and shook his head,
“She’s in the game room with Jake.”
“Thank you, thank you, thank you,”
I left the large room that smelled of maple syrup and hungover teenagers and ran up the stairs to the second level.
'Games room and Entertainment'
Jas was inside, playing pool against Shanice and Sophie, on the same team as Jake.
“JAS, I’VE BEEN LOOKING FOR YOU EVERYWHERE”
I marched over to her.
“Seems like I lost our little hide and seek game then,”
She sighed, didn’t seem like she enjoyed my company as much as Jake’s.
“You got a call this morning,”
“…and?”
She paid no attention to me as she watched Shanice take a shot at ball number 7.
“The call was from the X Factor management.”
She turned around slowly.
“No,”
“Yes.”
“No way,”
“Oh yes.”
“Do not lie to me while I’m playing pool Amy,”
“I’m not lying.”
She grabbed her phone from my hand and went straight into recent calls.
Unknown Number
“What did they say?”
It sounded more like a shocked demand than a question.
“They want you, Miss Lovelock,”
I paused and grinned,
“TO GO TO BOOTCAMP AND JUDGES HOUSES!”
“Oh my god,”
She turned, stunned, to her friends across the pool table.
“I’m going back.”
