"come on Percy, you're just the distraction, you aren't even stealing anything"
"I don't know Angie" Percy Hannover looks down at his friend worriedly.
"If you somehow get caught, even though you won't, you can throw me under the bus, okay?" Angie Corning wasn't worried in the slightest, in fact, she looked even calmer than usual, she was a great actress. Her usual torn jeans were replaced with a light pink tennis skirt, her converse replaced with flats, her oversized hoody replaced with a light purple sweater and her eyeliner and black lipstick replaced with light, natural makeup. She looked adorable, her tiny frame, combined with her outfit made Angie the most innocent looking girl Percy had ever seen. She was here to steal jewellry, and she was making Percy help her.
Percy sighed, and after a moment nodded. He was easy to convince, and there wasn't much he wouldn't do for a friend.
"Go on then" Angie said with a reassuring smile. Percy left her and walked through the mall, catching odd looks,no doubt because of his suspicious looking black attire, the hood of his jumper concealing most of his face. Without much hesitation, Percy entered the little jewellry store and began 'browsing'. The employee, a short old man with a stern look on his face, immediately glued his eyes to the back of Percy's head, watching him liked a hawk. His tall, dark frame was of much more importance then the young, innocent lady who walked in soon after, smiling for no reason.
A few minutes later, Percy reached out and touched a small ring on display, immediately the old man walked up to Percy and in a raspy voice said, "If you aren't gonna buy it, don't touch it, boy."
Percy drew his hand back immediately as nerves took over, he hoped Angie had whatever she wanted because he felt he had already overstayed his welcome. Slowly, he backed up and turned, walking out of the store and then out of the mall and into the not-so-fresh New York air.
"Don't trust boys like that" The old man said to Angie as she looked carefully at a few necklaces. She gave him her attention and nodded agreeably.
"Wouldn't dream of it sir" The old man was happy to be called sir, he smiled at the young lady and sat down behind the counter. Angie gave him one last smile before she made her way out, her little handbag filled with a few diamond rings and gold necklaces.
"Hey, what happened in there? You left early" Angie said as she caught up with Percy, almost jogging beside him in order to keep up with his long strides.
Percy shook his head, "Couldn't stay any longer."
Angie didn't fight him over it, just nodded. They walked in silence for a while, the uneasiness settled and Percy felt fine again. Nothing else needed to be said until Angie saw the first of many black-clad men making their way into a basement-style bar off of a small alley.
"Ooh, bikers? In New York?" Angie exclaimed excitedly.
"It says their name on their jackets, I can't read it" Percy said, without his glasses, he couldn't see much from far away. Angie rifled through her handbag and handed him his glasses. Percy put them on and looked ahead of them towards the alley entrance.
"Hellhounds" Angie said "That's pretty cool"
Percy shook his head, how Angie found dangerous things 'cool' just disturbed him. He watched her wink and smile at one of the bikers as he passed her on his way into the alley. The Hellhound looked her up and down, his hungry look unsettled Percy but made Angie's devilish smile wider. He hoped she wouldn't get herself killed one day.
"Come on Angie, let's go" Percy took Angie's arm and steered her onwards, unfortunetly he forgot to look where he was going and ran straight into someone.
A black-haired girl pushed him away from her with surprising strength and looked right into his eyes angrily.
"Watch where you're going" she said. Percy couldn't really hear anything, he was looking into her icy blue eyes, feeling something he hadn't felt before. Her Hellhound jacket was rolled up past her elbows, her arms crossed as she angled her chin up to death stare him.
"Sorry" He muttered. The girl's face didn't soften, but her eyes did, ever-so-slightly, it wouldn't have been noticable to anyone but him.
She was so beautiful, she was engulfing his mind, he could do nothing but stare in front of him as she backed up and walked towards the alley. He didn't notice the double-take she did, looking back at him curiously.
She was feeling something she hadn't felt before.
And so it begins. xx thanks for reading:)
