Lucy took her seat at the head of the table and stared ahead of her, not looking at anyone in particular. She felt odd, as if something had been pulled inside her, the change and lack of understanding made her angry. The Hellhounds could tell she was unhappy and decided it was unwise to look directly at her. One, however, Claviger was his name, had no fear of Lucy. He was probably the closest thing she had to a friend. Clav looked at her and laughed a heavy laugh, leaning back in his chair, it creaked under his massive weight.
"What happened to you?" He said.
"Shut up Clav" Lucy shot him an icy stare that only quietened him for a moment, within seconds he was playing poker with the other hounds, back to his old self.
Lucy thought back to earlier today, to the anxious looking boy who'd run into her. She was angry at him for making her feel as though her heart was falling into her stomach. She wanted to kill him, perhaps she would.
One thought and a waiter was beside her, supplying her with a martini. The young man didn't seem to know how he had gotten to their table. She shoo'd him away with a bored look on her face and the drink was gone in under a minute. She always hoped alcohol would one day satisfy her, but it was part of this curse that it would never fog her thoughts.
After an hour of sitting in silence, slowly making her hounds more and more quiet, fearing they had done something to cause such silence, Lucy stood. All the men looked up at her fearfully, even Clev, who was not used to such behaviour. Without a word, she left, and the hounds could breathe again, or at least they thought they could, Lucy could see them always.
She had decided she would kill this annoying boy that she didn't want to think about any longer. The blue-grey of the New York sky was darkening when she found him, hugging the girl he was with goodbye and going their seperate ways. No doubt a young boy like him, all nervous energy, was on his way home, walking down empty alleys towards a set of small apartment buildings. It was so easy to follow him, the boy had loud steps and was consistently looking down at the ground, unaware of any new surroundings such as Lucy.
When he finallly came to a stop at the shabby apartment buildings, he stood for a moment fumbling in his pocket for keys. Lucy stepped forward, out of the shadows, her heart skipped a beat as the adrenaline coursed through her veins. She was so close she could almost touch him.
She blinked and was back in the shadows of an alley, watching him enter his little apartment complex safely and unaware of any presence. Lucy frowned, she hadn't done that.
"Now, just what were you going to do to that poor boy?" Daemon said from behind her. She turned fast, attempting to put a fist in his stomach, but he caught it just in time.
"I was going to kill him" She said, without hesitation "I still am"
"How could I have expected anything else" Daemon let her hand go, and Lucy didn't try anything else.
"You're on edge, sister" He smiled a dark smile "you really want this one dead"
"Thank you for cutting in" Lucy spat, even her rather tall frame was nothing compared to his, she was still forced to look up at her twin brother in hatred. They looked alike in everything, eyes, hair, skin, firey stare, it was only too easy to tell they were siblings.
"No problem. You wouldn't believe what I've heard" Daemon shook his head disbelievingly and Lucy was impatient for him to leave so she could finish what she has started. She crossed her arms and waited for him to get on with it.
"Apparently you want new living arrangements, my living arrangements" Daemon became serious "odd isn't it."
"And who told you such a thing?" Lucy said.
"A friend"
"Well, it can't be new information, you know I deserve better than hell" Lucy complained.
"The underworld isn't hell, you are"
Lucy put a hand over her heart and acted surprised, "ouch."
"Stop trying to gain something that is not yours to gain," Daemon said.
"Did Juno tell you that? I think you let her get to your head a little too much, I thought no one could control you" Lucy smirked and Daemon glared.
"Watch yourself sis, one move in the wrong direction and-"
"You'll send me to the underworld?" Lucy interrupted "There's no where you can lock me up, brother"
Daemon looked Lucy deep in the eyes and smiled his scary smile, he put a hand under her chin and grabbed hold of her roughly, forcing her to look into his eyes, so similar to her own.
"I'll send you to Father"
"No you won't" Lucy struggled.
"Try me"
Within a moment, her brother was gone and her jaw was free. She was left in the dark to consider her next move.
