"Okay so I told you two things that are on my list of "little things I want to do before I die", but you still haven't told me anything about yours. That's not fair." I complained.
"Okay fine," he said, "I wanna go somewhere all by my self, I don't care where I go, but I don't want anyone to know where I went. Not even my closest friend or my parents can know where I went. Just me. I wanna be gone for at least one day, and when I come back from this, 'place', I want everyone to act as if I was never gone."
All of a sudden I started thinking about it again. The reason. The reason I'm here. I tried to swallow the guilt and continue the conversation, but I couldn't. I realized that he stopped talking. I felt him watching me and waiting for me to say something, but I couldn't think of anything else. Then he touched my hand, and like the games we played during recess as children, his touch unfroze me.
"Are you okay?" he asked with concern in his voice.
"Yea, I'm fine," I replied, "Sorry I zoned out. I'm just really tired," I lied with a fake smile.
"Do you wanna like, lay down a little bit. I mean the pavement doesn't seem too comfortable, so you are more than welcome to use me as your pillow. You can lay on my lap... or my shoulder.. I don't know it's up to you, you choose," he offered nervously.
"How come going back to my room and sleeping on a real bed isn't an option?" I asked.
"I was hoping we could avoid that a little bit longer," he replied, "Can we?"
I smiled and slowly bent to his side and laid my head down on his lap as an answer. My head took up one of his thighs. I shut my eyes, I wasn't sleepy, but my body was aching to relax. He placed one of his hands on my head and started stroking my hair playfully. I fell in love with how it felt. I fell in love with the feeling of each of his fingers paving a path down my long, dark chocolate hair as he ran them through. We were silent under the once black, but now a navy blue sky, and for the first time in a long time, I managed to let closing my eyes guide me to falling asleep.
I opened my eyes to a much brighter sky. The sun wasn't completely out yet, but It was starting to peak out soon. I rolled my head over to see Nash. He was asleep with his head leaning back on the fence, his lips slightly gapped. His hand was still on my head as if the last thing he did before falling asleep was play with my hair. I found my phone and looked at the time. It read 7:44 am. People might be up by now. Some of them may be looking for Nash. I looked at him. He slept peacefully, his kissable, pink lips hung softly off his face. I hesitated to interrupt all this, but I had to wake him.
I rose up from his lap and stood up to stretch. I can't believe I actually slept! I turned around and to see him rubbing his eyes as he slightly smiled under his hands. I guess the movement of me waking up woke him up as well.
"Good morning," he said, still keeping that smile.
