It's a good thing Tyler sent the email right then, or else I'm sure I wouldn't have been accepted in.

Knock knock.

"Hello? What do you want?"

"I'm here to start my first day of work."

"You don't work here."

"Yeah, I do."

I pulled out the email and showed it to Sasha, and she gave it a confused look.

"Well, this wasn't planned but, at least we got someone good!" She says.

I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding.

"Well, we actually already got someone to take over the position but, we'll just kick them out." She says, waddling over through the hallway and to a door.

"What? You already found someone?" I gasp.

She nods, "But she's horrible, we tried training her in one of those anti-gravity tubes and she's scared of floating!"

"Like, a fear of heights?" I ask.

"Nope, she's just plain out scared of not touching the ground, even when she's sitting on chairs! Her feet always have to touch the floor." Sasha rolls her eyes and busts open the door.

"GET OUT YOU USELESS PIECE OF POOP."

Useless piece of - what now?

I look inside and there's a frightened, tall, skinny woman that's staring at Sasha as if she were her worst nightmare. "Bu-but why?" She asks.

"'Why?'" Sasha mimics, "I'll tell you why, WE FOUND SOMEONE THAT WAS BETTER THAN YOU! NOW, GET OUT CINDY!"

"It-it's, Emma, ma'am."

"NOBODY CARES CINDY." Sasha shoots back.

Emma grabs a couple of papers and scurries out of the room, weeping.

Maybe I should do something...

"Okay, let us begin with you telling me what you know." She sighs.

Oh gosh, I feel so guilty...

"Sure, well uh, I have a full two years of engineering-" I then kept telling her everything I knew. How I spent my eight years at MIT. How I've always wanted to be an astronaut. Then, I told her the story of how she inspired me, that got a good laugh out of her.

"Oh yeah, and you know, there was this woman at my high school graduation that kinda inspired me to be an astronaut."

"Really, who?" She asked.

I smiled, "Her name was Sasha Eclair. A big inspiration that day."

Sasha blushed a dark crimson red and tried holding in her laughter. Well, she tried, then she erupted in a fit of belly laughs. Her rolling chair bent back and she fell backward, yet she kept laughing. I didn't even think it was that funny, but I was laughing along because of her laughing.

At some point, she quieted down and picked her chair up, "Oh, I remember that day. Well, I don't actually remember it, but I remember watching a video online with the title of," she gave a fit of giggles and gasped for breath to speak. "Crazy drunk lady giving 'memorable' graduation speech." Then she continued laughing and I just sat there...... for what felt like forever.

I don't know when, but at some point, she started explaining things I already learned, I wanted to tell her that I knew this stuff, but I didn't want the same fate as Cind-I mean, Emma.

Oh gosh, she didn't deserve it, she was still learning, nothing is wrong with learning.

And she actually worked her way into this job, I cheated myself into it. I can't help it, I have to tell her. I'm not this kind of person.

"Hey, Sasha, sorry to interrupt but, I wanted to ask you about that girl..." I started.

"Oh, her, don't feel bad. She's just here 'cause her dad's also in the H.O.A. She sorta cheated her way into here. I mean, her own father interviewed her! Isn't that unfair?" My guilt faded away as I realized I at least didn't steal a job from someone innocent.

Then she went on about my salary, which is way higher than I thought. What groups I'm likely to work in, monthly rankings, and stuff like that. She told me I was last in ranking because I'm new, but it's really easy to move up.

For the rest of the day, Sasha gave me a tour all around SPA. It was pretty cool, and the people in my group were really nice, they all gave me warm smiles and they then told me, shockingly, that only half of them have actually gone outer space before.

"Only half? That's, like, six of you."

"Yeah, it takes a while, the only reason I went is because I have a specialty in fixing satellites, and that was what they needed." A girl I later learned to be named Helen told me.

"Mhmm, but you have it lucky, you started off in one of the higher up groups, I started all the way at the bottom." Another guy said.

They turned out to be really friendly people and though I don't want to admit, there was a boy that caught my eye. I'm not saying that it was love at first sight, I'm just saying that he looked stunning. With jet black hair, combed back with what looked like a gallon of gel. He had a sharp jawline with a little stubble tracing it. And those eyes, they were the darkest hole of nothing I have ever seen, they were so..... deep.

Then the guy turned those eyes and looked at me, and I think I died right there. No, like, I actually had to get out my inhaler.

I turned away and for the rest of the day, as I learned how long of a lunch break I had, how to use my ID, I kept glancing at the black-eyed guy. His name, which I later learned to be, Dave.

Dave, that seems like a name I could raise my future children with.

I mean, uh..... that's a cool name.

I know. I know. "When will this book ever get interesting?" Be patient children, you know how the beginnings of books are always the most boring part... that's because the characters and their personalities have to be introduced. And I think I have way too many characters but eh..... it'll get better! I promise! Please keep reading! I beg you!

Well, uh, don't forget to vote and add this book to your library! I'm not forcing you to... I'm just suggesting it..... just, swipe up and read the next chapter... (if you want. I'm not forcing you to....)
