Chapter 6: Meeting ‘The Man’
Fiona’s P.O.V.
“Ow!” was all I can say.
“Aw, gee. Sorry, Miss. I wasn’t looking where I was going,” said the man, giving me his hand to help me up. His voice sounded so much like an angel, yet sounded so familiar.
“It’s okay.” When I looked up, it was the tall man I saw being mobbed by fans. He seemed kind of surprised when I showed no reaction who he was.
“May I know your name, please?” I asked to break the silence.
“My name is Michael. Michael Jackson.”
“You’re the Michael Jackson that everyone has been talking about?”
“Really?! Everyone’s talking about me?” He chuckled.
“Yeah. I just transferred here from Hoboken. Everyone there was talking about you.”
“Hahahaha! Well, I guess I am that one.”
I smiled at him. He then asked, “What about you? What’s your name?”
“I’m Fiona Cooper.”
“Pleasure to meet you, Fiona. Will you be my friend? I’m feeling quite lonely these days.”
“Really? I thought you’d have a lot of friends because you’re… famous!”
“That’s what you think. I believe I’m one of the loneliest people in the world.”
“Oh…”
“Will you?” He asked me one more time with a pleading voice and puppy dog eyes.
“Sure. Why not?” I said, happily complying to his request.
His eyes lit up, and I was also happy for I found a new friend. So did he. We bade our goodbyes, but walked in the same direction…??
“Huh? Where’re you heading, Mr. Jackson?”
“The Beachside Hotel. Please call me Michael.” He smiled. “What about you?”
“Same place.”
“Hahahahaha!! Well, that’s a coincidence!” he chuckled and I smiled.
“Why don’t we head back together?” I asked.
He blushed, but I don’t think he knows that I saw it. I always did have a keen eyesight.
“Why not? But let’s use the back way.”
“Why?” I asked curiously. Was he ashamed to be with a 17-year-old girl who doesn’t know him?
“The mob and paparazzi might still be there by the front.” He replied.
“Oh. Okay.” I said. I calmed down after that and gave him a smile.
We walked back together and once inside, we said our goodbyes again. But…. As we went to the elevator, we pressed the same floor level. We laughed hard. It’s just all... a coincidence!
“What’s your room number?” I asked in between my laughter.
“I’m in the room 416,” he replied back, still giggling.
“That’s such a coincidence… AGAIN!” I laughed.
“Hahahahahaha!!” He kept laughing. “What room are you staying in?”
“I’m in room 417.”
“Haha! We’re neighbors, huh?”
“Yep!”
