Chapter 5

When we got down stairs Dimitri asked what was wrong.

"Nothing Im fine"

"then why won't you look me in the eye?" he countered.

Damn him.

" You want to know why im upset? Because my life is one big shit sandwich. The shit part is me being framed for killing the queen, my crap love life(I looked at him as though expecting a comment and when he was about to speak continued) and being an escaped prisonor with the entire moroi/dhampir society after me. You see? My life is over and shitty!"

"Roza you life is not over! And you forgot you have people who care about you and won't let anything happen to you, ever."

We were coming up on a pizza place, so we walked in and I odered two cheese and a pepperoni. The guy, a human with really crappy teeth and bad BO, told us 15min, so we grabbed a booth in the back and picked up our conversation again.

"And as for the crappy love life, I'm sorry."

"For what?" I was going to make him say it. That how making me wait 5 years or however long he was going to was unfair!

"Rose."

"Dimitri." I mimiked his 'you gotta be kidding' tone.

"look I don't mean to rush you but I'm pretty sure I have bounty on my head. Most likely a stake on site one. So if I were you, I wouldn't pase myself. "

"Rose I won't let them do anything to hurt you, so really we have all the time in the world." He said this as if it were the most obvious thing in the world and smiled. So I rolled my eyes when it hit me.

"What about Adrian? You got some competion Comrade. Don't want to give me to much time, he may just beat you out."

"Hmmm. I think I know just how to handle him." His eyes showed a dangrous glint.

"If you lay one hand on him, I- I- I will kick your ass!"

Dimitri smiled as if say ' I'd like to see you try,' the nerve! I was about to unleash one of my famous Rose Hathaway quips when the pizza guy yelled out that our food was ready. Dimitri grabbed the pizzas as a payed.

The sun had set while we waited for our order so we were already on high alert when we left. The moment we were out of site of the pizzaria the nausea hit. Before I could say anything, two came at us. I took mine down instantly having the element of surprise.

Dimitri was struggling a bit with his at first, and as soon as I started to join in, he whent in front of me, shielding me.

Dimitri found an opening and took it, stabbing his Strogi in the heart. Two Strogi layed on the ground, along with our pizzas, though thankfully were still in the boxes.

I. Was. Furious! Why wouldn't he let me join in! I'm not defenseless! Part of me told myself that it's because he loves me, while the other part knew that's how people get hurt and so there for, told the other part to shove it!

We moved the bodies to a dumpster and set it on fire. After we destroyed the evidence I turned on Dimitri.

"Why wouldn't you let me help you?!"

"Because I had him."

"Were guardians, were supposed to work together!"

"Rose please don't start this!"

"O I'm going to star th-" he cut me off with a kiss.

He kissed me gently as if makin sure I was okay with him kissing me. And to that I kissed him back. Hard. The kiss held release to my anger. Relizing what he was doing, I broke the kiss.

"Hey! Don't think kissing me when I'm angry is going to make forget I'm angry with you!"

"Dont kiss me back then," he sounded smug.

Wow, carma was a bitch. That's what I said to him, when we were up against the wall that day in practice. So I did the most childish thing and stuck my tounge out at him. He laughed and I felt my face betray me with a smile.

He whent over to pick up the pizzas and he reached out for my hand. We held hands all the way back to the hotel, a smile on my face the entire time.
