Jenna-
Here we go again. My father is hosting yet a other ball! I'm so sick of it. "Hurry up, Jenna. The guests are waiting." My dad says, standing in my doorway. "Why do you insist on throwing a ball nearly every day?!" I half shout in annoyance.
He just sighed. "Because, they are a symbol of power. The Youngblood family is a very important one, best not to let that name die down. I've told you this before." He explained. I scoff and look at myself in my vanity mirror.
I was wearing my black and red dress that I usually wear for balls. My hair was tied in a tight bun, but no matter how much my dad complained, I kept my bangs loose. Yet he had forced me into wearing a fucking bonnet! "Brendon isn't even coming!
And how come Heather and Brook dont have come either?!" I asked. "Because they're adults, who are married, mind you!" My dad says, getting impatient. "And prince Brendon has his own duties." He added.
I sighed. "Fine. I'll be downstairs in a minute. I just have to powder my nose." I groaned. My dad nodded quickly and left. "Finally." I sighed. I locked my bedroom door then walked over to my bed. I reached under and grabbed a bunch of blankets I had tied together.
I tied one end to my bedpost, opened my window, and threw the rest outside. "Sayonara!" I say to no one before taking off the bonnet and throwing it on the floor, as well as the rubber band holding my bun.
I climbed down, avoiding windows. When I got down, I ran. I made my way into the town and just walked around. Maybe I'll go to the pub. "My my! A beautiful lady shouldn't be wandering the streets at night by herself!"
I knew that voice. I turned around to see Brendon standing under a street lamp. "Neither should the prince when he has duties." I mocked. We both start laughing. Brendon is my childhood friend. I met him when I ran away from home one day.
Coincidentally, he too was also running away from the castle. We became fast friends. And after years of bribing, my dad and his dad agreed to have us bethroled. He lucky he's my best friend, otherwise I would've left the country a long time ago.
"Wanna go down the the beach? I brought the good stuff." He grinned, pulling out a bottle of rum from his coat. I blush but grin back. We have our own secret hideout at a private beach and, well... we often have sex there when alcohol is involved.
I snatched the rum from him, pulled the cork off with my teeth, and take a swig. He watched with eyes wide. I let out a burp then laugh. Brendon began cracking up when we heard a scream. It sounded like a child. I dropped the bottle of rum, making it shatter as Brendon drew his sword.
He ran towards the screaming and I followed. We stop when we see Paul, Heather's husband, dragging a little pirate girl. "Let go of that child!" I shout. "This is none of your concern, Jenna!" He sneered. Heather looked at me with a smug grin.
"Yeah, mind your own business, you little pleb!" She adds. Brendon growled. "Vanderson, what is the meaning of this?" He asks, glaring daggers at my sister. "The child has been found guilty of being a pirate, your highness." Paul answered, still keeping a tight grip on the girl's curly hair.
"And you know what happens to pirates! This little freak is going straight to the gallows!" Heather snickered. "Quiet!" Paul barked. She just glares and crosses her arms. "You can't do this, she's a little kid!" I yelled.
"Silence, woman!" He barked at me. "Do not silence my fiance, Vanderson!" Brendon barked back. He sighed. "The law is the law. No exceptions!" Paul argued. Like hell I was gonna listen to this oaf! The girl looked at me with desperate eyes. "She's just a child!
We can get her cleaned up and take her to the orphanage! She has her whole life ahead of her! Brendon, do something!" I half shout. "There's nothing that can be done!" Paul yelled. Brendon looks at me and sighed.
"Let the child go and hand her to me." He says. Heather and Paul looked at him dumbfounded. "Your highness, that would breaking the law, you know that!" Paul tried to argue. "I know the law, but I am your prince, and you will do as I command!" Brendon says sternly.
Heather looked at Paul. With a sigh, he lets the girl go. She ran over to me and I picked her up. "By the way, she was carrying these." Paul says, handing Brendon a sack. We looked inside to find a variety of guns, a few daggers, and even a few bombs.
I whispered to her. "I'm so jealous." She looks up at me and I smirk. "Right, that'll do." Said Brendon. He put his arm around me and we both started walking away. Paul and Heather glared at us as we walked passed them.
I looked down at the girl. "What's your name?" I asked. She looked back up at me. "Grace." She spoke. "That's a beautiful name." She smiles at my compliment. "I'm Jenna, and this is Brendon. He's our country's prince." I said, pointing at him.
Brendon smiles at her. "Hello." He greets. "Wow, a real prince!" Grace breathes, making us chuckle. "That's right, but I just call him Bebo." I teased. Brendon blushed a little.
We finally made it to our little hideout at our private little beach. We had to cross a small forest since it surrounds it. Brendon lifts up a thick sheet covering the logs and firepit. I set grace down on a log and Brendon gets the fire started.
"This is mine and Brendon's secret hideout, so it's important that you don't tell anybody about it." I tell her. "Okay." She smiles and nods. "So, Grace, if you're a pirate, what are you doing on land? And where's the rest of your crew?" I asked.
Brendon looked over at us out of curiosity. The fire been made already. "Well, we just got back to our ship after stealing a lot of bombs and food. We were still on the little life boat. We were climbing up back to our ship, but there was a storm.
I was the last one to climb up, but the storm blew the lifeboat away, with me still in it. Next thing I know, I woke up at the waterfront. I looked around for my captain, but then that big dumb asshole grabbed me!" Grace explained. She shocked us both when she swore like that.
This girl is like maybe 6? Then again, she is a pirate. "I see, you were separated from your crew." I say. She nods. "They'll find me." She says. I bite my lip and look at Brendon. "Sweetehart, they will never find you." Brendon says.
I smack his arm. "Ow! I don't mean to be so blunt, just being honest!" I sighed and rolled my eyes. "They WILL find me!" She yelled. I sighed. "Alright. They'll find ya. I mean, why on earth would they leave you behind?"
Brendon scoffed at my words. Grace smiled. "Until they do, why don't you rest?" I suggested. She nods and lays down. I unwrap the blanket we keep here and pull it over her. I walk over to Brendon. "Why did you tell her that?"
He asked. "I didn't want her to freak out on us. Just be glad she's settled down." I whispered. He looks down at me and I poke his nose. He smiles a little and kisses my forehead. We look out at the ocean. We both sit down and cuddle. Unaware of the ship that was approaching the waterfront.
