Can anyone guess who this is??? ^^^^^^^
I stepped out of the high school, onto the sidewalk of my former Dallas high school. Yup I just graduated high school. I was seventeen until December. My dad is taking me on the BFTS tour for PBR. I knew most of them except for the young guns and the ones that rarely show. Vinita, OK was the stop dad was taking me to.
It was the last stop until Tulsa in August. Then from there I'll be with my dad in training for the medical team. I'm what the team calls a chute girl. I can get into the small places they can't. Especially with those big cowboys. Of course I know all the big names and they know me, what else am I supposed to do? I spotted my dad and ran to jump in.
"We'll run, get the camper, and haul up to Vinita." He said. "Got it, then when we get there make sure we have enough of everything." I said. "That's right. While I'm booking the camper up, grab your clothes bag, it has to have enough clothes for five weeks." He said. "Already packed." I said. When we got to the house I jumped out and went to get my suitcase.
I put it in the camper next to my bed over the hitch. It was set up like a mobile clinic with three makeshift doctor tables, and cabinets full of doctor supplies. I made sure the cabinets were latched and exited. I locked the door and jumped in the front seat. "Locked up?" "Yup." "Let's hit the road." I put my earbuds in and played my music while reading, 'To Rodeo to Your Heart.'
The story was great! Once in OKC we stopped for fuel and a bathroom break. After getting to the arena I jumped out to take inventory. I made sure we had enough of everything for the event. "We good?" Dad asked. "Yup." I said sitting up on one of the tables. "How about you go get us some lunch." He said. "Braums?" I asked. "That'll work." He said handing me a twenty. "Two burgers and sweet tea with fries?" I asked. "Always." He answered. He gave me the truck keys.
I drove down to the restaurant and pulled up to the drive through. I ordered the food and was told the total. I pulled up to the first window and paid before going on to the second. After getting the food I went back backing up to the trailer. I then took my food into the camper to eat. I turned the radio on and went outside while my dad finished preparations. Boot scootin' boogie came on. Me being the person I am, I decided to dance along.
I took a swig of my tea before seeing my friend. "What's up girl?" She asked. "Not much. Just goofing off until I'm needed." I said. "Sounds about right." She said. I told my dad who I was going to be with before going to hang around the grounds. I put my Pandora on speaker and stuck it in my back pocket. Ain't my fault by Brothers Osborne started up. "Come on Lace, try it." She soda as we got to the chutes.
"I don't know." I said. "I got my hands up, I need an alibi. Find me a witness who can testify. You made a mistake. You got the wrong guy. I'm only guilty of a dang good time. " We sang along. I switched my phone to my front pocket. "Come on do a flip! You do it better than Flint." She said. I rolled my eyes before backflipping off the platform. "That's new." She said.
"Come on. I've been doing that for years." I said. We both went up to the top of the bleachers on the far side. "Hey check it out. It's your crush." She said. "So. I knew he'd be here." I said while hanging my left leg over the back side. "Come on. You know what I mean." She said. "Not gonna happen." I said. "And what if I called him over?" She asked. "Don't even." I said. "Hey Cody!" She yelled.
He turned his head looking up here. "Your terrible." I mumbled. "What are you up to later?" She asked him. "Depends on if I get hurt." He said. I kept silent. "Ok. If your not hurt terribly would you like to go grab something to eat with Lacey and I?" She asked. "I'd have to rain check on that." He said. "Ok. Maybe tomorrow night?" She asked batting her eyes.
"Oh I've gotta go. My dad wants to talk to me." I said faking an excuse. I took off down the bleachers and walked to the mobile clinic. I grabbed my tea and stepped inside. "Get your shirt on." Dad said handing me my medic shirt for the night. I went into my bed area and closed the door before changing into a tank top. I put the button down on and went out tucking it into my jeans.
I fixed my belt before getting two rags, my pass and a two inch pocket knife. I then followed dad to the arena. "Keep close Lace." He said once there. I nodded.
